TRUMP RECRUITS FARAGE AS BACKER

Having been backed by Sarah Palin in the earlier stages of the campaign, Trump has now turned to the British version for support.  Somehow the irony of a foreign politician involving himself in an American presidential campaign, and at the same time complaining about a foreign politician involving himself in a UK campaign, seems to have escaped Nigel.

Thanks to Danny for alerting us to this piece:

  1. I've never tried acid, of that I am certain, but with with what's happening in America, in Labour and brexit; I'm beginning to think I've been slipped a Mickey Finn.

    2. How was the holiday? Or are you keeping that for Sojourn Sunday?

    3. Mushrooms are better than acid imo. They give a smoother, more mellow hit.
      Allegedly.

    4. Ha ha... now that's an idea... What an inventive crew the Munguinettes are!

It was great thanks, Jim, and I'm not really that glad to be back... Munguin had a great time and was noticed in various places, including the presidential castle, where he had a picnic luncheon, and the palace of Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary when he made a flying visit to Vienna.

All in all it was great. Our lovely hosts were quite stunning in their hospitality and kindness. But there's nothing worse than a holiday bore so I'll shut up now. I'll put up some pics soon for those that like that sort of thing :)

  2. Now I'm suddenly wondering if you have to be a US citizen to serve in a presidential cabinet. I must consult the constitution, but I don't really think so. So maybe Nigel is auditioning for the Trump cabinet. ;-)

    1. Hillary on the campaign trail always points out the crazy things Donald has done and said over the previous 24 hours or so, but probably never expected to find herself talking about Nigel Farage.

    2. Yep... you couldn't make it up.

Warning though. Farage is lazy. He rarely bothers with the business of the EU parliament where he is employed to represent people from England. He never bothered to go to fishery meetings despite being on the fisheries committee and complaining that British fishermen get a raw deal. He drinks and he smokes and one hears that he 'likes the ladies', a little more than a married man might be expected to!!

He's full of s**t and you can never tell what he's going to do. He'd be a perfect accompaniment to Trump.

    3. Yep.....a perfect match for Trump. There's a considerable body of opinion that Trump doesn't really want to be elected president (therefore his bizarre personal behavior and refusal to study the details of policy) since it's a really hard job. But he'd also hate the embarrassment of losing. A close loss might be the all around best outcome for him.

    4. LOL. Yeah. It's hard work that can't be delegated and what would he do with his business empire?

In a way it would serve him right if he gets the gig!

Nice to have you back. I didn't watch the video but I would not write off Trump as Clinton is hated. Low turn out might benefit Trump. I Clinton is 7% ahead but I am not convinced that she can win this as easily as she thinks. There is a lot of disquiet with politics in the USA as there is here and voters are starting to hit back. Will be closer than people think.

    1. Yes, possibly Bruce. I read some comments on Twitter that have said that it would be great to have a woman president, just not THAT woman president. LOL.

It is certainly true that politics is very unpredictable at the moment, thus the election of Trump to the GOP nomination, the outstanding success levels of Bernie Saunders... along with the upheaval in the UK, the possibility that Germany will not reelect Merkel, and that France might reelect the vile Sarkozy!

    2. PS: Nice to be back... well, not really nice, becasue it's cold and grey compared with Budapest, but hey, I'll get used to it.

  4. There's an expression in Chicago politics: "We don't want nobody nobody sent." Here, Farage is nobody. The chattering class asked "Why?" Everyone else asked "Who?"

Trumpa is not going to win. There simply aren't enough angry white people in the general electorate (there as more than enough in the Republican primary electorate). He has no GOTV organization and it's too late to build one.

People who don't like Hillary know that at least, she's competent. Absolutely no one who's sane thinks that of Trump.

    1. Certainly competent isn't a word that you could ever use to describe him. I suspect it is not he who runs his multi billion dollar empire (otherwise it would have run down by now).

    2. In bed with Putin's Russia? Multi-billion-ruble, er, dollar empire runs you.
