  1. "There is only one race, the human race."
    I particularly liked that.

    1. Yep. It resonated with me.

I can understand many prejudices, but racism defeats me completely, and I find myself feeling physically sick when I hear people who think that it's reasonable.

  2. I think claiming the word "race" is racist is over simplifying the problem. There ARE several races of humans, who arose become of some environmental differences in where our ancestors lived: e.g. dark skin in hotter climates to defend against sunburn. Science recognising this isn’t Racist.
What there is only one SPECIES of human: homo sapiens (there used to be more, but factors such as environment or competition with us led to their extinction). What? Is she going to say we’re speciest because we recognise we recognise biological differences between us and Neanderthals, Homo Floresiensis etc
When people talk about the “Human Race” what they mean is the “Human species”, they’re misusing scientific terms: the same as “theory” is misused by average people to mean an unsubstantiated idea, when in science it’s the opposite and a “theory” is a principal backed by evidence.
The word “Race” is not racist. Recognising differences between people that came about because of environmental pressures on our ancestors is not racist, it’s just good science.
What’s racist is when people try and use those minor differences to claim one race is better than another, but the term itself “race” itself isn’t, and claiming it is just putting your head in the sand rather than than actually addressing the problem through education and teaching people we’re the same SPECIES and just because your ancestors adapted to be better equipped to handle the cold of Europe rather than the heat of Africa is a pathetic reason to hate someone.

    2. If someone, generally looks like me, lives like me, eats like me. Irrespective of their skin colour, shape etc. they could be me, I could be them. Be we species or race.

The idiots who are specist or racist don't care. I will never understand or condone racism in any form..

    3. Hear hear.

I don't think I make judgements on race, colour, ethnicity, religious belief/disbelief, ability/disability, gender, sexuality, or anything else... If that's all you see, you miss the person.

I remember having to write an equality policy for a company I worked for. I couldn't think of all the things that people could be biased against. In the end I had to go copy one to make sure i didn't miss anything out.
