NOW WE KNOW WHY WE CAN'T BE INDEPENDENT: JOHANN EXPLAINED IT IN ONE (BADLY CONSTRUCTED) SENTENCE

What is the point of debating with a Scottish politician who says: "We are not genetically programmed to make political decisions in Scotland?

I presume that she really meant: "We, in Scotland, are not genetically programmed to make political decisions". The alternative would suggest that once outside Scotland, Scots would be able to operate effectively, but then that would rule out the genetics element (you take that with you), so we'll assume that the ex-English teacher had a momentary lapse!

Is it worth then, maybe, making the point that she and all her colleagues are drawing their salaries under false pretences? What is the point of them sitting there in Holyrood, all genetically incapable of making a political decision.

Is she aware of the provenance of Keir Hardie? Does she know of Jimmy Reid, or Ramsay MacDonald, John Smith, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Alistair Darling, or even Johann Lamont? I wonder if she had a moment of doubt about the country's safety when Mr Cameron announced that, although he was not Scottish, his grandfather used to live just outside inverness.

Maybe it's just me, but these few words made my flesh creep. It's almost like she felt that some sort of apartheid was justified. There are Scots and there are political masters, that is to say the white men, like David Cameron and George Osborne, whom, I suppose, she considers to be genetically programmed through their aristocratic and royal connections, to make political decisions.

Now I know why the No campaign don't want to see Scotland independent. They see themselves and their fellows as an inferior breed, of lesser political ability, there to be ruled by their betters.

I'm beginning to empathise, rather than sympathise, with native Americans, Australians, New Zealanders, Indians and other races across the world who found that Britnats considered them inferior and unqualified to rule themselves.

I wonder if she refers to Cameron as "sahib", or "massa", or if she just curtsies and stays quiet for fear of embarrassing her lesser self.

  1. Hello tris. The one bright spot in that so called debate last night was that statement from Lamont. If there's any justice she will live to deeply regret saying that. Of course, she will be protected by her pals in the media. How can anyone justify voting for Labour in Scotland now?

A new fundraiser has started over at Wings this morning. The money's flying in at an incredible rate.

    1. Hi John. I have no doubt that it will make no difference. As you say, I don't see any great mention of it in the press.

Ok. I'll head over to Wings and make a wee contribution. :)

  2. There's also the fact that many people in Scotland came from elsewhere where they, presumably, were genetically programmed to make political decisions. I'm just wondering how and when their genes changed when they came to Scotland. Is it our air quality that turns residents of Scotland into mutants?

  3. Just to add,if Alex Salmond can't make mincemeat out of her at FM's questions after that, he's not the man I thought he was.

    1. Pretty much think he does that with her most weeks John. There must be times when she has something serious to say, but she's so bad a ta saying it.... no reading it... that he ends up winning anyway.

  4. Regardless of exactly what she meant by these words, the idea that she might possibly become Scotland's First Minister in 2016 is frightening. Either she has utter contempt for Scotland, or she opens her mouth and lets words come out without thinking about what they mean. Either way, she is not fit to be a political leader.

    1. NO, I'd say of all of them, she was the least suited to the role. I don't think she's particularly bright, but that doesn't terribly much distinguish her from any of the rest of them.

But her inability to adlib; her inability to engage with people who disagree with her and the fact that she is having to sell a Tory Britain doesn't help.

  5. It was obvious how this debate was going to go from the start Nicola smiling looking relaxed Johan grim faced like a startled animal caught in the headlights
It all went downhill from there, the pointy finger thingy really gets my goat I find it so ill-mannered

Maggie Curran on the politics show now speaks in a very refined manner these days We'll have to transfer the stairheed rammy title from her to Johann

    1. I wonder if Mrs Curren has been taking lessons from her son, now that he's very nearly a foreigner. Perhaps he has become genetically programmed to speak proper... what with being away at a proper university in a proper country with grown up people.

Yes, the pointy finger thing is far from endearing.

She must have been the teacher from hell.

If you had better genes you'd have had the good sense to be born somewhere else...

  7. What the ffffffffffffffff was she drinking last night?

Did some one lace her water with a stupidity drug that she never noticed?

SHE maybe, no that's wrong, she DEFINITELY doesn't have the DNA or is genetically programmed to make ANY decision in Scotland far less any POLITICAL decision. The electorate in Scotland on the other hand DOES have the necessary DNA and IS genetically programmed to make the necessary political decisions.

THIS woman is the LEADER??? of the Labour party in Scotland?

How on earth can ANYONE still remain loyal to this numpty and her pathetic party. The Labour party was once a proud party that actually stood up for the poor of this country. Thanks to the likes of Blair, Brown and this MUPPET it now stands for nothing more than STUPIDITY!

I can't wait for FMQ's tomorrow. Embarrassment is the least of Mrs Muppet's problems tomorrow I reckon. The biggest problem for the First Minister will be, I reckon, trying to keep a straight face in future every time he faces her at FMQ's.

I think the outstanding question about tomorrow's FMQ's has to be whether Alex Salmond will firstly announce that he is "astonished" at her ability to turn up to FMQ's or that he is "astonished" that she admitted that she does not have the DNA or genetic modifications to allow her to make any political decision whilst in Scotland. LOL

This was by far the worst of the STV debates and is hardly worthy of the title. I don't think there was a winner other than maybe the no side ever so slightly in that Lamont obviously went into it with the sole aim of not answering any questions at all which as we know is a BT strategy , I'm astonished frankly.

Her comment on Scots and Politics was a truly Lamont moment. I do hope it comes back to haunt her but I suspect it will receive no coverage from the msm at all. Currency and Europe remain real problems for the YES side and while I toally accept that the YES side are correct to stick their guns and say we will negotiate at the time they really need to come out and say we use the currency either way, even for a limited period. While not ideal it might be enough to sway some who are on the fense, the sad fact is for some people what is in their pocket is a vital part of their vote and YES need to be clear on this one. Europe they have more scope really as most people just don't give a crap about it anyway.

Derek Bateman has done YES a real favour today on the pensions issue and they need to hammer that home, and hammer it home and hammer it home as again this is a real fear bat for the nay sayers. Things are falling into place with the above, the fact the Windsors get a fortune in housing benefit as do certain tories and labour people they have to play the cards properly.

The winning of this campaign is within touching distance, Better Together have little left I suspect if YES can get the actual facts out there. All to play for and please let Labour keep Lamont, what an asset to the YES campaign.

    1. Agreed.

What we need to be hammering home now is that we should bve very frightened of the future under London.

There will probably be no universal pension in 30-40 years.

Which means of course that the pension will be allowed to fall even farther behind the rest of the world.

But there are many other things.

Life will get very very nasty if we vote no.

  9. Has anyone seen Jola's comment reported in the press or on the TV or Radio?

This controlled sycophantic MSM is worthy of comparison to that of Himmler and Stalin's worst.

    1. NO, of course not. It was a major blunder by the worlds best debater... they can't possibly let on about it.

None the less we are all killing ourselves laughing about it, and it is getting round.

The aristocrats were born to rule; they have the ruling genes.

Ms Lamont thinks we should bow to our betters.

Oh dear I'll have to go lie down.

  10. Have seen people on Facebook defending her comment and saying it was taken out of context. Personally I find it revealing of her true mindset, and whilst it might not quite have been what she meant to say, I would argue that it does get to the essence of what she is all about, just as Maggie had "no such thing as society" hung around her neck.

    1. Yes Craig.

I tried to point this out to some old bloke on Sub Rosa's site, but he didn't seem to understand it.

If it was misunderstood, it was because she put it badly. She seems to have two jobs in her life. English teacher and politician, both of which I would reckon, require communications skills.

      She hasn't got them.

You're right... the MSM won't do it, but we will. She's lumbered with it for life.

I might put up a few of the great joke illustrations I've seen about it already.

  11. This latest pronouncement from the Lamontable one appears to claim that genetic programming is only taught in English public schools.
We must demand that it is included in the Scottish schools curriculum as well, otherwise how will we ever be able to make any decisions.

    1. Hi bringiton...

I think it comes down from father to son....

Prince Charles has it because mummy had it.

David Cameron has it because his mother is a 5th cousin to the queen.

      We should know our place.

POutting in on the curriculum won;t make any difference. If we taught it from now till doomsday, we would still need the English Ruling Classes to keep us right...

I mean they do such a good job...
