SUNDAY IS NATURE DAY (OR JOHN'S SOPPY SUNDAY)

  1. What a welcome change to see lovable animals instead of your usual Murphy and Mags pictures. Few weeks ago I helped my neighbour disentangle a stag whose antlers were caught in a fence. Stroking a wild animal to calm it down reminded me, for some obscure reason, of nights with Bessie Braddock.......

    1. I'm so pleased that you are happy with the choice of topic. Unfortunately the respite from Mags and Murphy will be only too short lived. We plan a return to them tomorrow.

How kind of you to help the poor stag become disentangled from the fence... and isn't it typical that you should be rewarded by it invoking happy memories of your dim and distant youth?

    2. So you are reminded of an early um... experience, that was "pretty dear"...?

    1. Yes, Marcia. I think that was what it was. The little one at the back is being inspected by the rest of the family.

  3. I adore Soppy Sunday, all those lovely views and animals. Bit worried about the Labrador who had it's paws round it's owner? Should this happen in my house it is a, because the waitress has not worked fast enough in serving dinner or b, dinner was insufficient and said owner is now dinner. If you think I am kidding, I can assure you I am not. My other worry was the adult male lion licking the cub. Now male lion's take over other lion's mates and kill said cubs which are not their blood line. I think this is just Daddy lion washing baby. It is, isn't it?

    1. Don;t worry Helena. Boy and dog having 40 winks together, and daddy lion washing his little one's face.

Promise I wouldn't put up anything that was horrible...

    2. I always love love the cute and beautiful animals. But I also love HB's gentle and practical reminder that, as Tennyson told us, "Nature [is] red in tooth and claw." The only reason most animals don't try to eat you is that you're too big (or otherwise known to be avoided), and there are more promising pickings farther down the food chain. The cute little duck after all is going after a bug.....a bug which is another bug's son or daughter, mother or father. So we must never forget that it's a freekin jungle out there. ;-))

I love the bagpiper and the penguin! Wonderul picture! I wouldn't have imagined the Kilt as preferred Antarctic attire.

    3. I know, you're right Danny.

Some poor bug wonder where the little bug went... Seriously I do worry about these things.

When I'm working in the garden and there's load of woodlice under a pot, i worry when I move them that I'm splitting up a family and some tiny one, that still needs looking after, is left on his own...

I know, I really need to get out more.

The Penguin is probably saying... for heavens sake, what did I do to deserve this.

You're right, Even in Scotland a traditionally worn kilt (sans slip) is a tad on the chilly side. I've not been to Antarctica yet, but when I go you can bet that I'll not be taking a kilt!

    1. Well Arbroath, that's a lovely compliment. I don;t know about Munguin, but I've never been the reason anyone got up in the morning before...

(Munguin says that it goes without saying that he has been.)

It's good to get away from politics for a bit...

Specially the corrupt rotten ones of the UK.
