I wonder what Palin would make of it. I suspect that in Alaska it will be an Inuit language that is native to the area. or maybe it is Russian seeing as Alaska was purchased from the Russians.
The English have been trying to speak AMERICAN for years, and yet there are still words that they can't even spell correctly. ;-)) Fortunately, there ARE some sensible people in Alaska, and in addition to speaking "American" in the schools, Alaskan law also requires a program of indigenous language instruction in the schools. There are about 20 indigenous languages in Alaska, and about 25% of the K-12 school population are native Americans. Whether Sarah Palin knows this is doubtful. After all, she was only Governor of the state for a while until she quit to become a media celebrity......thanks to the insanity of John McCain.
Bless her. I wonder if Sarah actually knows what day it is, never mind what percentage of the population of "her" state speaks "American" as a second language.
Imagine the lack of judgement of McCain choosing this idiot for VP.
That would be Cherokee, Seminole or Apache, presumably. (Don't worry Stu, not Gaelic).
ReplyDeleteJesus,

DeleteIn any case, she only makes a passing stab at "American" herself! And to think that that could have been the American president! EEK
DeleteWe're getting a heck of a lot of Gaelic on here recently. Shame it's just all the same expression though!!!
DeleteI like that post
ReplyDeleteI like the mute button.

Mute buttons are one of the best things ever invented JD.
DeleteIs that what "American" sounds like?
ReplyDeleteI thought it was oompa loompa. :)
follow the yellow brick road

She's technically correct, but I think she was just being her stupid self, and a bit racist.
ReplyDeleteI too like the mute button.
Apparently she is much fallen from grace and her Fox tv show hasn't been renewed.
DeleteStill she must have made herself a small fortune with her "talks" and tv appearances.
Not sure if they have reached the tipping point yet in the USA but Spanish must be approaching the language spoken by most people in that country.
ReplyDeleteI think that's mainly in the southern states, some of which, of course used to belong to Mexico.
DeleteOh dear.
ReplyDeleteA pretty good summation of purgatory would be having to listen to that over and over again for an eternity.
;-)
Or even 10 minutes?
Delete;)
must be fluent in gibberish to understand her
ReplyDeleteSome times you ask yourself what John McCain was thinking about having her as his running mate.
Delete"Some times you ask yourself what John McCain was thinking about having her as his running mate."
ReplyDeleteAmantes sunt amentes...
Surely not.
DeleteIs that Gaelic for "burning witches"?
DeleteNo, funnily enough, it's Latin. It means, lovers are fools/ lunatics.
DeleteEWW ER!
DeleteHorrid thought.
