  1. 'who like otters" - everyone! The giraffes are great, lovely baby elephant, Turkey looks amazing. That "dwarf" kingfisher has a helluva big mouth - shall we call it Ruth?

And thanks for the orangs- living in one of the seven places with a Tory constituency MSP I needed a boost. No 20 was me on Friday in desperate need of consoling...

I seem to have forgotten the art of sleeping. Half six and I've already been awake for over 2 hours :-(

    1. You should have your grandchildren to stay be awake
much earlier that that plus four in a bed aching back
headache...even though there is three other bedrooms
for them to sleep in ....

And one is showing alarming tendencies towards Scottish Nationalism keeping an eye on him off to Belfast relatives for the summer that will cure him..Maybe

    2. I knew there was a gene in there somewhere struggling to get out The others might have it too and it's just be a wee bit slower rising to the surface May your grandchildren grow and prosper

    4. Ah, PP. Someone actually asked for otters, but I can't remember who it was, although, clearly everyone likes them, as you say. They are so clever and cute. A bit like Niko. OK, only joking...

I think my fav is the elephant and his/her eyes!

Deepest commiserations on the Tory MSPs. I have no idea what advice to give on them. Apart from Annabel, I've never met a Tory. Oh, except for one who turned up and the polling station on Thursday.

I've stood on a few polling station gates in my time, and passed the time of day with people from other parties, and without exception got on famously with them... (particularly remember the lovely Labour woman at Glenrothes)... but really I couldn't wait to get away from this one.

I can't get back into the sleep rhythm after being awake all Thursday night.

    5. Aye well, Niko. That's the problem with being a popular granddad, although why the kids can be bothered with your grumpy old face, search me.

Taz has clearly had a bit more influence with the one who's seen the light.

    6. I know... The weeks rush in ever faster, Fairfor. When I started this blog in 2009, I'm sure weeks were longer. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the pics.

    7. I think that's why they say "your school days are the best in your life", because they dragged in. Then you leave and, in what seems the blinking of an eye, you turn 50.

  2. Stunning photo's again Tris.

Been too busy to dig around for any or get out and take some. Some good opportunities as the Cherry trees here are just coming into bloom as are the Pieris.

Know what you mean PP, it gets light, I wake up.

    1. Thanks Gerry. The Whitebeams and brooms are spectacular too. I love how fresh the leaves all look at this time of the year.

You need to get out with that camera!

  3. Oh so needed that, Panda Paws, much commisseration with regards to your infestation of Tories, we are feeling so much better since losing Cars Hilton, or wee two faced as I preferred to call her. Picture s are lovely Tris. Milo, someone in the family has obviously inherited their brains from T A Z. Helena

    1. It's a great gain to loose that Hilton, Helena. She's appalling!

I'm amazed she hadn't got herself on the list.

  4. The bridge,in Huangshuan, must have been a perilous undertaking.

    1. I was thinking the same about the bridge - I wonder how they managed and how many workers had parachutes?

    2. And we thought the Swiss were good at these things.

It's pretty amazing. I wondered exactly the same thing, John.

  5. Great photos, Munguin! I recall an old lecturer telling us that in China the prestigious position of the Emperor's 'artist-in-residence' would go to whoever captured precisely a king-fisher's colours. I tried on several occasions but failed miserably...

PS: Didn't Jackie Baillie look wonderfully seductive on TV the other night?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Dear Uncle John,

As you'll clearly never make artist in residence in China, I thought you might like an (unpaid) post as deputy assistant artist in residence to me. The propensity to fail miserably is clearly a trait I don't mind. Otherwise why would I employ Tris?

Er yes... Jackie Baillie...hmm. Maybe you should up the medication... or go to Specsavers.

    Best regards

    Munguin.

  7. Where does a herd of Bison go? Anyplace it wants to! *rimshot*

Nice picture! You just can't have too many Bison. Even if they occasionally block the highways that pass through their ranges. Perhaps photographed in Yellowstone National Park (Wyoming...mostly) where the herd numbers close to 4,000. There's a road that gets up close and personal to the herd of around 400 near Rapid City, South Dakota, too. (Near the strange mountain that looks like giant presidents.)

    1. PS: As for that mountain in South Dakota. I don't know if the work on the giant President Trump head has started yet or not. The hair is thought to present a unique artistic AND engineering challenge....what with keeping it from sliding off.

  8. So, embarrassing admission to make here, Danny. These are actually Canadian bison. From Saskatchewan! But I'm sure they speak English so no need to worry about them.

I guess they do pretty much go wherever they want. I mean I'd not like to ask them if they'd mind getting off the road... Even one of them would terrify me.

I think you'd better ask the Chinese to come do Donald's hair. If they can build that bridge, sticking a wig on a mountain shouldn't be too much bother. It's the fake tan that seems to me to be a problem. What happens when it rains?

    1. PS. Maybe Donald will build a wall to keep Canadian bison from crossing the border and eating American grass. He could ask Justin to pay for it too...

      Delete
    2. Ah yes, I saw references to sizable herds in Canada when I checked out the herds in the US. (Wikipedia...of course.) As far as I know, hysteria about marauding herds of bison crossing the border from Canada has not yet been part of the Donald's message. But I wouldn't rule it out. Representative government is so much easier for the Canadians, since they tend to elect people like Justin who don't appear to be crazy. Americans aren't so restrictive in their standards. Take old Orange Face for example.

    3. No. Sorry mate. No chance. You take old Orange Face. We have enough idiots here without importing yours.

I think he only does his face like that so that Munguin will think he's an orangutan and feature him on Soppy Sunday.

      As if!

  9. Looking at the election results it seems that Jackie Baillie has the slimmest majority.

How did they manage to build that bridge (Number 8)? Wonderful photos.

    1. I'm tempted to say something about the word slim, Marcia, but I wil remember how I was brought up and desist.

I seriously have no idea... and it doesn't look as if it was built recently.

      Amazing.
