SOPPY SUNDAY

So this week there is no photograph from Gerry, as he's had to go into hospital for a wee operation.

All the best Gerry. Get well soon.

However, by happy chance, Bill has sent in a photograph. The prize for guessing which one it is, is a week in the Clyde Tunnel with Jackie Baillie...  But before you think to yourself that you'll not bother with this weeks competition, I should let you know that the prize for NOT for not knowing, is two weeks in same tunnel with same person!

    1. Baby animals...even huge ones... are always appealing.

I now feel we have to have a weekly bison to go with the weekly orangutan!

      :)

    2. Excellent plan Tris! ;-)) There are BTW plenty of them to photograph now. Wiki tells me that the North American herds probably numbered 40,000,000 when the settlers arrived on the plains of the US and Canada (and maybe 60,000,000 or more in the 18th century.) Then they were hunted to near extinction. Estimates are that there were less than 1,000 animals by 1900, and maybe as few as 300. But they made a strong comeback, and by 2000, the public and private herds numbered around 360,000. Sorry, Wiki offers no immediate information on the number of orangutans. Seems to be quite a few though.

    1. Good guess. Not that far away I suspect. It is actually Illulissat in Greenland.

No week in the Clyde tunnel for you!

  3. Ah there were some lovely ones this week. Me walking in the snow, the little orange smiler, the kitten and squirrel but I think my favourite is the rhino and the toy elephant.

Haven't a clue re the competition and no way am I spending two weeks with Jackie Liar either and you can't make me :-)

    1. You're certainly cute in the snow, Panda.

The wee rhino is an orphan and he needs something to cuddle. His mother was taken by by poachers who wanted rhino horn, presumably becasue they were so dilapidated that even a bucket of Viagra didn't work.

Well you didn't win the competition, but if you had Munguin would have made you. No one says no to Munguin! Ever.

  4. The other, playing with the leaves, is my favorite.

I reserve the right to opt out of this week's competition.

    1. Autocorrect on Otter?

      LOL. No opting out!

      It's unfair on everyone else.

    2. Didn't spot the autocorrect, can be rather annoying that.

  5. The little orange smiler is teriffic.

There are two I think are Bills. the forrest stones and the wee robin.

If I win I'd like to donate my prize to Jim Murphy (if he can be found) If I do not win I'd like it to go to Wendy Alexander.

    Back with you next week.

    1. He/she is a wee corker.

Nope, only one Gerry, But you were right. His is the wee robin sheltering from the rain.

Mr "Where there is discord, may we bring harmony" Murphy, will be found somewhere in the world where things are getting out of control. I wonder how long conflict could be avoided with him and Baillie.

As for the runner up prize... we have yet to select a lucky winner.

      It could be YOU!

Anyway. Good luck and let Munguin know when you get home.

      :)

  6. Is the Clyde Tunnel wide enough? (Sorry, couldn't resist).

Nice otter pics, my wife loves the wee buggers. She can quite spend all day watching them.

  7. Where is the fourth photo from? It looks similar to a golf course I hacked my way round in Iceland. You can play there 24 hours a day so I managed to finish my round!

    1. It's actually in Mongolia John.

How many days it take you to get round the Icelandic one?

  9. Well trying again, see windows 10 I hate it. I thought the wee robin might have been Bill's but then so could so many. I loved the robin, Husband had to break up two of them from duelling to the death up at the community field week or two ago. They are nasty wee blighers outside the breeding season. As always beautiful Panda and Orangs, oh and not fogetting the wee Buffallo. In fact I loved them all.

    1. I know. It's a pity that robins are such vicious animals... them being so cute and loveable with humans.

So... are you off to spend a fortnight in the Clyde Tunnel?
