IAN MURRAY AND THE WILLIE BAIN CONVENTION

"It is a long-standing PLP convention that we do not support motions put forward by the SNP". So said that great political thinker of our times, Willie Bain.

When I said thinker, I meant, well... dim ex MP.

Sorry Tris but I have to disagree with you there Willie Bain is NOT, nor has he EVER been THAT intelligent!

    1. Munguin is generous to a fault in his assessment of sacked MPs.

It's just part of his nature :)

  2. Bain, Murry and the rest of the Labour party, are bloody useless.

    1. I see they are claiming that the U-turn on Tax Credits was all down to them.

I seem to remember that it was the Lords that stopped it.

No Liberal Democrats, or indeed Tories... just Labour aristocrats.

      Aren't they wonderful.

Haven't seen the small print yet though... have we?

    2. Yes, they defeated the cuts by sitting on their hands, and abstaining.

    3. So basically what they are saying is that they now leave the politics to their aristocrats adn are only the opposition in the house of peers?

  3. I wonder if Bain is one of these political colossus figures who will be shoehorned into Holyrood to give them another bite at the expenses cherry. I wonder which MSPs willl be ditched to let the titans get back in the lime-light?

    1. I wonder too Christine. I see Anas is going for it. He was a hopeless MP, and had about as much talent for political argument as my gran's cat.

Willie Bain being described as a titan fairly made me laugh!

  4. Who is going to elect Labour to government when their modus operandi on anything important is to abstain.
You might think that they are afraid to tell anyone what they stand for.
They cannot run a country by having no policies on anything, except of course in Scotland, where they have a single policy which they stringently adhere to.
Opposing the SNP on everything may be sufficient to keep a few bums on tax payer funded seats but is not what what expect from our elected officials.

    1. The problem is some of them stand from Laboury kind of things, but most of them stand for illegal wars, bankers and battering the poor and the unemployed, the sick and the dispossessed.

      In fact they are Tories.

So left without much of a clue what the movement is about, the safest thing is to be about nothing, except SNP bashing and soundbites.

  5. I will hope and I do mean hope that they make a great big mess of picking these losers for the Scottish Parliament and they still find themselves out on their big lardy bums.

    1. Yep me too.

I'd think that, if you as a person, have just been roundly rejected by the people in a first past the post vote, then the least they could do was NOT try to get a job on the strength of a list vote by using your clout to get promoted to the top of the list.

I see Kezia's leadership has decided that only old members can vote for where you go on the list, so the hard right wingers will be safe.
