  1. Can't help thinking that the picture of the black bear was the last ever taken by the photographer!

    1. Yep Zog, fond as I am of animals, I'd not like to be that close to a brown bear. On the other hand I expect he had one of these telephoto lens things.

  2. The three penguins; they look as though they have, great big, smiles.

    1. They are Chinstrap Penguins, Jim... They always look happy. These three look like they are setting off for a day's fun.

  3. Lovely - I'm very fond of polar bears, obviously from a distance as they can kill people. The ducks are quackers and there are lots of Munguin's relatives today. I'm feeling for the piper though, I dread the think what's happening to his extremities :-)

Where was the first picture taken? Is that Munguin Towers :-)

    1. Ach, pipers are tough PP, a wee bitty snow won't put them off. And it would be worth a bit of a chill to be next to that fine fellow.

Clackmannan Tower is the first picture, although I believe Munguin would like to purchase it for his holiday home. It was built by Robert the Bruce in 1359, when he became Baron Clackmannan, so it 's a bit on the old side. Munguin reckons he should get it cheap becasue of how old it is! I'm not sure he understands these things.

Like brown bears, polar bears are better observed from a distance, and probably best of all, on the pages of Munguin's Republic!!

    2. Nope I was wrong. It wasn't Robert the Bruce. It was Sir Robert Bruce who was related to Robert the Bruce.

  4. Nice to see that the Bison is still here. The old tower is cool too.

    1. Like orang-outangs, I suspect that bison may very well feature regularly on the page.

They seem infinitely nicer than your rattlesnakes. :)

I thought you'd like the tower. They don't build them like that these days.

Recent tower blocks in Dundee were lucky to last 50 years before being blown up.

    2. PS... The strange rock formation is also American. It's called Turnip Rock, Michigan.

  5. The ducks have it, the ducks have it.

    1. Sorry Gerry, something happened to your original post and it was wiped out. Cleverly Munguin managed to resurrect it.

      I love the ducks....

Thanks for your own contribution (which I neglected to mention in the post).

Prizes again for guessing which photo is Gerry's.

  6. Em, Gerry's pic wouldn't be the one called ngerry.jpg would it?

I see Kez has a friend over in pic 18, is that a Labour rose they are looking at?

    1. Well it could be, but that's cheating adn Munguin has disqualified you from this weeks prize which was a night out with Jackie Baillie.

I hope none of the Orang community saw that comment about Labour. It's purely co-incidental that they were looking at a rose. it has nothing to do with Labour.

    2. Well I suppose thats better than a night in with Ms Baillie :) .

    5. Thanks PP. The weather is indeed foul here. Warm but tipping it down with rain. And now starting to get windy.

The orangs will cheer me up ...

  7. Well my favourite is the squirrel and I think the Rottie, it must be Cuddly Dudley, an old neighbours new puppy. I can just imagine him with the squirrel on his nose. Now Hektor just doesn't see those pesky squirrels, they can jump up and down and run under his face and he doesn't bother and believe me we have a plague of them in Pittencrieff Park. He was not so happy with the lovely Cuddly Dudley.
Now I love the Black Bear, got a Charlie Bear who is a brown one easier to cuddle. I am glad to see Clackmannan Tower, we went looking for Alloa tower and sorry we are still looking for it, must pop over in the spring and look at it.
No idea what Gerry photographed, he likes the ducklings. Some gorgeous places there, one Iceland? One I think is one of the Lakes, Italian/Swiss? Och i love 'em all. Thank you

    1. We've been to Alloa Tower, when we tried out the then new rail line. Alloa I found to be depressingly poor, full of £ shops and charity shops, but the tower was fantastic. We were lucky enough to have a guide to ourselves and he was fantastically knowledgeable adn made the visit really incredible.

Gerry's pic is the dry stalks in the frost.

Greenland, USA, Scotland, Norway, Spain, China.... are where they come from this week.

      Good guesses though :)

  9. I like that oasis picture as it shows two extremes living in coexistence, I don't want to know where it is as the Brits will just bomb it out of spite.
