Alistair Darling on his way to a Better Together meeting says to the other three in the lift "Thank you for coming - great to see such a magnificent turn-out"

    1. ha ha ... I would imagine that he gets nervous with big crowds these days, being used to speaking to nearly empty halls.

  2. It is very simple.
Westminster is completely and utterly corrupt.
It, and our democracy, has been highjacked by a gang of crooks and barrow bow spivs.
It declares itself to be supreme and thus not answerable to anybody, even the laws of the land which they can change as they see fit.
We have no written constitution and whatever the so called unwritten is, can be twisted and altered to suit the crooks and spivs who infest our Westminster democratic institutions.
    it is a shamocracy.
It is showing not the slightest intention of reforming itself and placing a metaphorical loaded pistol to its head is the only thing which move it to consider doing so.
So only by breaking the Union can democracy be restored to Scotland.
It is by leaving Westminster and setting up an equitable democracy with a written constitution flowing upwards from the people and not Westminster's model of top down that we can retake our democracy
Only after that can the good English and Welsh people take back their democracy like we will have done.

    1. Yes, thats all true, adn it will get worse. They want to leave the ECHR... Can you imagine what an English human rights bill will look like, when you have people who fundamentally believe in class and privilege.

When England votes to leave the EU they will lose the protection for employment that Europe affords, and health and safety too...

...And people laugh at H&S because there is always some jobsworth that takes it too far, but wait till you have none. Wait till you're burning in a locked factory with no fire escape, because they couldnt be bothered and did 't have to have the electrics sorted.

In the mean time this greedy botch lays her lugs among the public's money. Presumably she agrees with Gove's spad. It's all in the breeding. And welfare payments are alright for the upper gene pool.

What do we expect anymore when we have allowed them to change the system back to virtually what it was before the crisis becuase as usual a total lack of interest in politics in this country. Of course she is a disgusting human being, she is not the only one from the three tory parties to be at it. But again unless people wake up, stop giving in to the fear and actually pay attention things are going to get a lot worse. We already have some of the most brutal policing in the world, anti union laws, poor benefit system, high unemployment.. I just wonder what it will take for people to wake the f*** up. Like Govan the other night, low turnout and the sheeop vote a labour councillor back in to what must be the worst run local authority in Scotland, when will people learn. If it's a no vote next year I better never hear a no voter moan about a damn thing because they will really hear from myself followed by don't ever mention politics to me again.

    1. That's a very goo0d point Bruce.

If you vote no and they crap on you from a great hight, please don';t waste your time moaning to us about it.

When you find yourself with a bill for your prescriptions; when you find that it costs £9,000 a year to send you kid to uni; when you have to pay to see the doctor...just don't say you weren't warned.

  5. I'm surprised that anyone is surprised at this woman's antics and we all know that his is just the tip of the iceberg. Wouldn't it be great to see politicians having to account for every single penny and doing so under rules that cannot be manipulated or by-passed. I recall one of the first instructions from the Labour party was to claim the full fare on Glasgow/London flights so as "not to upset the apple-cart".

    1. I'm not really surprised. I was just angry at her and I wanted to call her a greedy cow out loud...

But yeah. I guess I could easily have chosen someone from another party. If you don't claim every halfpenny you can lay your hands on you make the others look greedy...so claim whether you are due it or not.

But she is a vile old bag.

    1. So they won a seat in a Glasgow Constituency Niko...

I think you may be underestimating just what the Westminster government has in store.

If we say no, they will steamroller us.

      Tell me Labour won't.

    2. He'd better hurry up then. If the Tories have their way that sort of thing will come at a cost... and it will be one the likes of us won't be able to afford.

  8. Labour will be tougher than Tories on benefits, promises new welfare chief

Keep right on to the end of the road. Dean will be in his element with his new found party and I have found a surefire cure for him.

  9. So much for Ed's march to the left. We will kill all you skivers off and save piles of money.

No one wants them to let the real skivers off, but in a country with too few jobs, only monsters would treat sick and unemployed people like this.

I can only hope that this bitch finds herself unemployed in the near future and at the hand of Mr Drunken Smith.

    1. Oh, John, does it show? I thought I was doing a good job of hiding my "dislike for the woman" by not having lamp post in the same picture.

      :)

I don't dislike her any more that then rest of the thieving gets. Well not much anyway.

  11. Quite so, Niko, we need transparency in government from all side of the spectrum. Can you imagine what a difference the truth about the McCrone Report, Blaiir's dodgy dossier, cash for honours, cash for access to politicians etc etc would have made to the running of this country.

    1. Aye good point, John.

Westminster is a den of lying thieving corruption. The City of London is one of the most corrupt places in the world.

No government, no country, no financial establishment is perfect, and Scotland is no exception, but we have to be better than this.

  12. Well, hopefully, a Scottish government would be more open as they would have to certainly be more accountable to their voters. At present we seem to accept that successive UK governments has/had the welfare of Scots pretty low on their agenda.

Anyway, getting back to the more serious subject of Alistair Darling. I understand that he had a Better together meeting in Stornoway and there was no, as far as people on this rocky outcrop were concerned, notification before-hand and the meeting did not even merit a mention in the local paper who went instead with the front page news "Sheep escape from pen - leisure centre closed until further notice".
