SNAPS FOR SATURDAY CELEBRATES THE PEOPLE WHO BROUGHT YOU THE AUTUMN STATEMENT (WINTER EDITION)...

Scotland welcomes the Autumn Statement, or Budget as we would call it, even if it is late (December is winter here), and none of it does us any good at all. Some of it will actually do harm, particularly to the old, and the poor. But what do you expect from a bunch of self serving flea bags like the Tories?

Never mind. Think of all the fun we will have with the Federal road signs.
Or the Treasury as some people like to call it euphemistically
They are apparently going to go after the tax dodgers,
just like they said they would do every year since 2010.
It's a government of caring sharing people
They care about themselves and they share with  their friends
and the bankers. Just call him Rich for short.
As they used to sing in the 60s:
"Things go better with Coke!"
This sort of a  .... no just this sort.
And "the brains" of the organisation.
Well, you didn't think he thought up all this by himself,
did you?
I'd imagine tying his laces uses up his daily share of intellect.
Well, you have to turn up for the important stuff.
Click to make the thieving bitch bigger.
IDS wins a prize.
Just like his granny... the rust bucket.
Where there is discord, let us bring war.
Where there is hunger, let us bring starvation.
And where there is misery,
let see what we can do to increase it!...
...Obviously except for "people like us"...
...Unless they aren't donors to the Conservative Party
in which case they are despicable...tax avoiding scumbags... obviously.

Oh yeah, I know there should have been a Liberal or two in there too, becasue they are part of the government and Danny Right Hand Man Alexander was almost certainly largely involved in the autumn statement, but they seem to have been forgotten. There was no news about any of them, except apparently Nick Clegg saying he wanted to spend more time away from the Commons (which I am sure will be arranged for him in a few months time... around May probably).

However, for those who like that sort of thing, here's a picture of Danny, looking cute...as ever.

MORE RANDOM THOUGHTS

Letter to the Honourable Mr Docherty MP

Dear The Honourable Mr Docherty,

I understand that you have recently made a comment about people having to choose which one of their grandparents would be "foreigners" if Scotland votes to leave the UK.

I just thought I'd let you know that I do not have any problem with one of my grandparents being foreign.

You see I have travelled outside of the British Isles and, on occasions, I've been left with no alternative but to meet foreigners.

But, don't worry. They are not disgusting or terrible. In fact some of them are really quite nice and smell quite fresh. Among their number there are those who even learn to speak English so one can have a nearly civilised conversation with them.

I know, however,  that it is a big issue in Labour party circles, with people as distinguished and universally respected as Tony Benn worrying that his mother would have been a foreigner had this independence malarkey happened 40 years ago (I assume that being American doesn't count as foreign, otherwise he wouldn't have married Caroline and put his own kids in the invidious position of having a foreign mother), or people as ...well people like Margaret Curran, who was worrying that her son, at university in England,  would turn overnight into a foreign person.

So I write to put your mind, and that of Margaret, at rest. Unfortunately Tony Benn, otherwise one of my heros, died recently... so he will be at rest anyway.

I went to School in England and I worked in France for a while and, on both occasions I became a foreigner overnight (once quite literally, and once in a more esoteric way) but on neither occasion was there any lasting damage and on both occasions, when I came home to Scotland, I unbecame foreign...just like that.

So, foreigners really aren't that bad.  Please try not to worry.

Not British of course, and some may even come from banana republics... ie republics where bananas are grown... but heigh ho, one can't have everything.

Pip pip.

Hugs

Tris....

This, as you will know,  is Humza Yousaf MPS, Minister for External Affairs and International Development in the SNP administration (and personal friend of Munguin).

He was somewhat bemused to find this email in this inbox:
Aye, they are looking for a speaker for the Better Together campaign.

No wonder they are falling behind if they are asking ministers in the Scottish government to speak  for them...

As Humza said... what a shambles of a campaign!

Plymouth MP, Oliver Colvile, (nah, me either) is almost daft enough to get a job with Better Together. According to Political Scrpabook he has been seen delivering leaflets through doors in his constituency with the following information:
I mean, most people with more than one badly damaged brain cell would have worked out that that woman is poison with Tories at the moment.

Duh, Ollie!

And this is just for a laugh... like you haven't already choked on how thick some folk are...

CAMERON...AND THE BIG SOCIETY'S DRAINS

Comedian Bill Bailey has a nice turn of phrase.
The Labour supporting politician pretty much sums up the UK political leaders for the Huffington Post.

Of the Liberals he says that soon all that will be left of them is some flowers tied to a fence. David Cameron, he describes as "congealed laminated weasel".

He thinks UKIP are a troupe of sozzled berks who want an electric fence at Dover and a a "no women in the bar" rule.

And of Ed he says... "He's like a plastic bag in a tree. No one knows how it got up there and no one can be bothered to get it down".

Michael Fabricant has been sacked as a deputy chairman of the Conservative Party for tweeting "about time" over the demise of the ex-culture secretary, Maria Miller. He says he was asked to resign, refused and so Greg Shapps sacked him.

In further gossip from the Tory party, it is rumoured that George Osborne was behind Miller's decision to "resign" as she was dominating the news, when he wished to dominate it.

(Of course when I say dominate and Tory in the same sentence some of you may be the idea that there was something sexual behind it, but as far as Minguin can make out no such deviation occurred...not that they'd tell him anything!

What I thought was interesting about this situation was that Michael was sacked for a tweet, and Maria had the confidence of the prime  minister after stealing tens of thousands of pounds of taxpayers' money. Funny old party... funny old country.

David Cameron appears to have lost the plot, In his Easter message to religious leaders at Downing Street, he claimed that he is carrying out the work of Christ. Jesus invented the Big Society 2000 years ago, he told them, and he was simply carrying on the good work.

Meanwhile down at the food bank there were volunteers thinking that it might have been a better idea if he hadn't bothered, and wondering how it was that you fed 5000 out of 5 loaves and 2 tins of supermarket own brand tuna.

Then, having likened himself to Christ, he went on to compare himself to a drain cleaner. (He's versatile; you have to give him that.)

He urged church leaders to do more to serve Jesus's Big Society (Jesus/Cameron...whatever) and indicated that if they encountered any problems with that, they should think of him as a giant dyno-rod.

I'm sure you'll agree that the less said about that, the better.

Meanwhile Anas Sarwar's brilliant scheme to involve blue blooded Labour in the campaign, and Lord Robertson of Gaelic Doesn't Exist's part in it, continue to attract press coverage. Unfortunately for Anas, not the kind that he is accustomed to.
