PROUD TO BE BRITISH?

It's rather a long watch at just under an hour, but it is an hour well spent, documenting as it does, the way that the British and American treat people who are powerless, lie to their own citizens, whether in these islands or elsewhere and, in the end disregard high court ruling when it suits them and use archaic powers of the queen to bypass democratic scrutiny.
The film was made in 2004. An update on further duplicity can be read on the Wikipedia site for the islands.

  1. This is a superb video that should be seen by as many people as possible. It is, however, a very hard watch because it makes anyone with a decent sense of fairness very angry,

I am old enough to remember the start of the Diego Garcia "problem"and I thought at the time there was something wrong - and boy was I right!

Mr. Pilger, more power to your elbow!

    1. I was incredulous Anon.

I know they are a shower of lying lowlife in the FO and have always been so, and the UK government will always fold its tents when America tells them to do anything, for fear of finding themselves out of favour and off the top table, but for heaven's sake, the attitudes were appalling.

Orders in council? Overturning high court orders?

Someone should invade to overthrow them because of the dictatorial way they go about running the country. It was good enough for Bush and Blair in Iraq.

  2. The Monarchy is window dressing this so called"democracy" we are forced to live in by corruption of the MSM. It should bring into question of who are the real fascists of this world.

A video of 3.5 hrs long which I watched the other week ties in with who are we actually ruled by. not hyper linked.

    1. Ridiculous that they can get round things by Orders in Council where they stand around while someone reads the proposal out and they queen says "approved" and sod parliament!

  3. The British Establishment is long overdue for a revolution, the pity is that people on islands tend to be isolated from the changes that occur where countries abut. The Continent has modernised, really modernised, that has never occurred here. We came damned close to giving them the biggest fright they ever had, and I truly believe that we won and they cheated. I think that until this bunch of cowboys are overthrown the poor people that they robbed will never get their Island back.

    1. They never will, Helena.

Simply they don;t matter. And the terrible thing is that when the Falkland islanders needed money spent, mrs Thatcher had no compunction about blowing a massive amount on 2,000 people, but the minister at the Foreign office was careful to point out several times that he was mindful of British TAXPAYERS' (I'm surprised he didn't say hard-working) money.

Let's be painfully honest. The Diego Garcia population of 2,000 were black and so to Britain's government, they simply didn't matter, when America said jump.

  4. This made me cry. Thank you for the chance to see it and for the opportunity to understand the duplicitous behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing of government departments and institutions WE are paying for, and who do these things in our name. We should all feel deeply ashamed.
I hope somebody puts this report into Facebook and Twitter, so more people can see what they have signed up for with their vote, both here in the UK and in the US.

    1. I've tweeted it from here. I hope too that people will realise just what a corrupt country the UK is.

If you add this to the way that MPs and lords cheated and stole from us; the Iraq scandal of the dodgy dossier, and the incredible delay reporting on the Chilcot Inquiry, and of course the scandal of the press/police over phone hacking, and perhaps worst of all, the paedophile scandal that apparently we can't find a single person to chair an inquiry into, we begin to get an idea of the depth of depravity that our leaders have sunk into.

  5. I did a blog article on this a few years ago and it is sad to see the situation has not changed a bit. As an islander I cannot imagine how these people must feel.....

    1. I image they feel that they are considered worthless by the British state, which (given the geographic location of the islands in comparison to London) must have at some stage stolen their lands.

    PROUD TO BE BRITISH?

Well anything with that title is going to get an overwhelmingly
negative response even if the subject was the life of Mother Teresa.
Obviously some of the Brits involved were Scots but we will gloss over
that or perhaps slag them off as North Brit traitors.

Que-- copious crocodile tears violin playing plaintive dirge in the background
tales of heartbreaking incidents carried up by soldiers/politicians of the
Union....for Union read English....(some of them Scottish but we wont mention that oh no )

so sad so sad if only the snp had ruled it would of been so
    different !

And we will now leave the nats in their own wee fantasy
safe from the real outside world full of nasty horrid
unionist bogey men....leaving the nats to dream on
and on about the nat crock of shi@@

    1. No we won;t gloss over any facts that they may have been Scots. I'm sure that at least some of them were. Gordon Brown and the Warmonger General must have known about this. It was one of their ministers that went off on a "saving British taxpayers' hard earned cash".

I suspect that if the Americans told the Scottish government to move a who;le pile of unworthy Scots off one of the islands so that they could carry out their warmongering from there, then the Scottish government, of whatever colour, would tell the United States of sod off. Certainly when America summoned the first minister to explain his actions over Locherbie, he informed them that if they wanted to speak to him about it, they could make an appointment to come to Edinburgh. Blair on the other hand trotted over to America to answer questions, in the hopes of a kiss from DuBya, like the sycophantic little worm that he is.

You appear to think that what Britain did to these people was ok?

What is your reason for thinking that?

  7. If you had any sense at all Nicostratos you would know this is not about how dreadful the English are to others, this is about how unbelievably disgusting the government of our country can be towards innocent people, it would be a good time now to hush Nico!

There are no words that can describe shame MY shame, MY disgust in the actions of governments who elected by MY hand or not, they all represented ME,
    HOW DARE THEY!

This crime, for that is what it is should be taken to the UN as I'm not sure it would be within the remit of the European court of human rights but certainly people should be facing jail time for this, the Americans should be told to pack up and leave immediately and the Chagossians should be relocated back to their Islands and any and all assistance rendered to ensure their future by instating good housing and ensuring water supplies are permanently assured, (even it it means shipping in water in tankers as the did (do?) in Gibraltar.

And people wonder why we want away from this disgrace of a government, Scot or Welsh or English whoever , it doesn't matter, whomever presided over this crime against humanity should be exposed and tried in court, if the Russians had done something like this the Americans and British governments would have been clamoring for action from the UN ,

This is not about SNP good Westminster bad, this is about anyone else good, Westminster BAD

    1. I think that half the problems in the world are caused by the fact that the West. America and their poodle Britain in particular, but also to a lesser extent Europe, can do whatever they want, invade who they want, take what they want, kill who they want, with impunity.

As you say, if anyone else did it they would be invaded, killed, overthrown, tried and imnpricsoned.

No wonder the rest of the world hates us.

And that dick Cameron was on about people respecting Britain? Who told him that crap. Never me a foreigner who liked Britain. Not even Americans.
