  1. So my those were lovely. And a much needed cheer up after this week's events. The scenery was beautiful and I can't pick a favourite animal pic. Those owls, the baby elephants, the kittys and our orange cousins. A new series of Monkey Life is on pick (weekdays at 7pm) so I'm in primate heaven at the moment. I'm even beginning to see the appeal of mice as long as they aren't in my house.

And belated congratulations to the Davis Cup team for winning and commiserations for having to go to No10 and meet Cameron afterwards. If I'd been in the team, I'd have been tempted to throw the match if meeting him was on the cards.

    1. Glad you liked them.

Mice are absolutely lovely. They are so cute, especially the little ones.

Mine are just plain lovely. They get a good balanced diet too, and I've found out that it is true that the love cheese.

I make no bones about the fact that I would not go to Downing Street and I would not meet Cameron under any circumstances. So far I have refused to meet Tony Blair when he came to Dundee to talk about New Deal and refused to go to a garden party at Holyrood to meet Charlie Saxe Coberg Gotha. The idea of meeting Cameron, given what we know about him, is beyond what I could possibly ever do. I can;t think about that man, even from a distance without the image of a pig creeping into my mind. Face to face I'd just have to say something.

Still Andy at least will have the satisfaction that the Posh Boy will have known perfectly well that he voted against the union.

    2. Andy didn't vote against the union because he didn't have a vote as his main residence is Surrey. I'll be honest I thought Andy and Jamie were unionists and Jamie certainly started out and spoke out against indy. However, whilst neither were eligible to vote, by 18th September they were yes voters in heart if not pencil.

    3. I think GB won the Davis Cup because Cameron didn't publicly back them. I don't think he bothered because there isn't generally the same interest with this competition.

And I really wish people would stop hijacking onto individuals because of their views on independence. Chris Hoy gets attacked for wearing the "butcher's apron" (I term I think is damaging) yet when Andy Murray does so it's tolerable because he supports independence.

If the unionist camp want to attack in a similar fashion, let them. Andy Murray and Chris Hoy are sportsmen, not bloody politicians.

    4. Oh thanks, PP. I didn't know they didn't have votes.

I think it's fair enough to make comments on "personalities" as opposed to politicians, who make their politics public.

Those who don't want it discussed should keep it to themselves. Well known people... be they singers, actors or sports people have the choice to be politically ambivalent as do companies.

If they decide to advertise their political preference it is their business.

I think people have the right to decide say, not to buy from a company that supports the Tories, or to support that company fully; to refuse to buy albums from strong Labour supporting singers, or refuse to go to a concert becasue the Proclaimers are singing... because they are independence supporters.

I've been a fan of Pet Clark all my life, I know her personally, and am friends with her kids, and I still don't know her politics, nor do I want to.

  2. These are so beautiful, one of your best ever sets I think. Or maybe we are just even more in need of them than ever this weekend.

    Thank you so much. Sue

Get out there and give them a good long walk in the wind and rain!!

Seriously. Hope you've not had too much damage. The sun is now shining here, and I should go and try to repair the garden...

  8. Well love all of them but Hektor was saying that the chick would not have been that close to him, he hates birds and chicken is for eating, terrible boy is my Pug. When you look at that magnificent Bison (Buffalo) and then the baby it is hard to visualise that one will eventually become the other. The Cats, are lovely, the look on the face of the white one is a picture. The wee mouse, reminds me of my next door neighbours field mouse who used to come calling to my bird table, all ears. I had some in the compost bin as well at one time, they were keeping warm.
My other neighbour would not have been so happy she got them into her house I hasten to add not the field mice, the house mice, and she cannot get rid of them, the cat leaves them alone.
I look forward to Soppy Sunday, it keeps you sane in this Alice in Wonderland state we find ourselves in.

    1. He he... I really loved the mouse. He reminded me of the little one that got stuck in the food tray in my cellar. i had to build him a step to get out of it, while his mum or dad looked on nervously.

      Lovely wee face.

    2. Maybe the Scots are more tolerant of mice than Americans, what with Burns writing poems about them and all. Nice Bison!

    3. Well there are some who stand on chairs and scream, Danny... So not all. And you can;t judge Scots by my behaviour. After all, I'm the guy who will rescue a wasp from a bucket of water and blow on his wings for 20 minutes to dry him off...

But I'm not that much of a big softie. If Cameron was on fire, I wouldn't pee on him. If he weren't, I would.

      Weird lad....

I'm glad you like the Bison

    4. We had a mice infestation a few years ago. The three cats I had at the time were too old to bother about them So it was off to B&Q for humane traps. You'd hear the wee lid close, and then take the mouse out for a half-mile drive and release it.

Then there was the morning with mouse poo all over the worktop. The wife insisted on the proper traps. That night - bang! Went down to the kitchen and the bloody mouse was still alive, the bar catching it in the middle "Ain't he cute?" says the wife. So I had to take this mouse out and drop it off, at some woods near the hospital of all places. 1am on a Monday morning. How the hell I was going to explain that to the police if stopped I have no idea......

      All true...

    5. LOL. I'm taking the mouse out for a walk in the wood.... is about as convincing as I'm blowing on this wasps wings to dry them out.

It's loonie bin stuff, but they are animals; they are alive and they have every right to their lives.

I once rescued a moth from a basin of water in teh kitchen. I dried her and got her moving again, and she hung around the house for a couple of days... during which she must have laid eggs on every house plant.

I had hundreds of caterpillars (and not many leaves on the plants) as a result of my kindness!

  9. I really look forward to these photos. It would be nice if you could add captions to the landscape/place pics, so that we know where they are, e.g. photo 21

    1. Fair enough Fergus. I will try to do that where I can. Sometimes I see a picture on twitter and it's so pretty I just add it, without knowing where it is. But in this case I know that 21 is Hallstatt in Austria.
