OK...WE'LL TALK ABOUT HIM A BIT...

He's fond of WMDs and votes for war...
He's close to Blair....
He seems to have taken YEARS not to even get a degree.
He won't condemn OO support for Labour
He got to meet Von Smallhausen
He's supposed to be Labour, but he votes like a Tory.

    1. I don't think Spud does "silence", though Nicola will shut him up.

    2. He's a shouty kind of bloke.

But they would be mad to elect him. He's too right wing for some of the Tories.

I can't see him either moving the party to the left or giving it a distinctive Scottish feel, both of which are what seems to be required by the Labour voters.

  2. What's wrong with him meeting the Pope?

    1. Nothing at all. I'd not have cared to meet that one, but I'd love to meet the present one.

My point in the photo was that he was sent on an all expenses paid trip to the Vatican on behalf of the UK government on at least one occasion, and was allowed to meet him when he went to Britain. Like he was something special.

    1. Hope he doesn't get it...

Imagine the humiliation, given that he thinks so highly of himself.

  4. Mr Murphy's MP's expenses of almost £200,000 in the last set of Westminister accounts is almost 3 times his MP's salary of £67,060. Can you believe he has claimed over £1m in expenses since 2001 - and that doesn't include his time off work etc for his Big 2014 Irn Bru Tour of Scotland.

Looks a bit like he's a power hungry, Labour money grabber doesn't it Scotland?

    1. Yeah, he's a careerist. This is about him. Would be interesting if he lost...

I'm not sure we can afford him though!

  5. In 1843 former Kentucky House Representative Cassius Clay was shot twice at point blank range while delivering a speech in favour of the abolition of slavery. Clay attacked his would be assassin cutting off one of his ears and gouging out one of his eyes and throwing him over an embankment, he then finished his speech before seeking medical attention for his gun shot wounds.

In 2014 Jim Murphy was comprehensively routed (and went in to hiding) with an egg. This, I think, demonstrates most clearly why Mr Murphy is without doubt the perfect candidate for leader of the labour party in scotland.

  6. Well I reckon Mr Murphy us looking to the future which for someone who sees his future as a minister looks quite bleak at Westminster. So here is the rub, do you put in for the job at Holyrood, after all you have those you regard as inferior behind you and doesn't First Minister of Scotland hold a wee bit of a cachet but you can still hold onto the Westminster position and claim the lovely expenses. Okay you can give your salary away to charity but not your expenses.

    1. Question: If Murphy does get the job, will he stand for Westminster in 2015? Or will he stand down? Will he be leader without a job (and salary or expenses)? Will be be sent to the House of Lords so he can make £300 a day?

    2. Well on that I have no idea, I do see a future in the Big House, whether that means he has done his masters bidding or he is just doing time.......

  7. Tris and Munguin, please not the new IPSOS Mori poll for STV has the SNP with 52%, Labour on 23% Cons on 10% Green on 6% Lib Dems on 6% and Ukip on 2% which would leave Jim's lot with 4 seats the tories with none. Only trouble is we would still have G. Brown, Tom Harris and I. Davidson and Tom Clarke. SNP would have 54 seats. How's zat.

I've just read Stu's piece. Hilarious.

    2. Tom Bradby, Political Editor of ITV News, tweets:
Apparently, MORI was so shocked by this Scotland poll result it did the research
again with a bigger sample - and got the same answer.

    3. Interesting. I saw that the sample was average, just over 1000, but that the figures were based on only 700 people who said that they would definitely vote.

Interesting that a bigger sample brings in the same result.

A bit nasty of me perhaps but wouldn't it be funny of Murphy lost the election for leader and then lost his seat and had to go find himself a job for the first time in his life...

  9. Total thug of a man, and not the brightest bulb, but then that's the Westminster A team for Labour. Not sure he will win, as there don't seem to be anyone that supports him, but then if he does win, it's a gift for SNP.

    1. Hi Valerie.

I've always thought he was a tad on the dim side. I've heard him twice on phone ins taking questions form the public and was beaten hands down by them. He accused the organisers of allowing SNP supporters to phone in... but as one of the organisers was the BBC and the other was the Scotsman, I don;t attach much credence to that!

He just thinks he's a big cheese. I seem to remember Pete Wishart tweeting that he went off like a rocket and swore like a trooper at him for no discernable reason.

he just seems like a wee nutter to me.

  10. Am sick to death of reading about this sad excuse of a man. We're all going down the same track as BBC Scotland and the rest of the media, and giving him more attention than he could possibly warrent. We are feeding the current ludicrous unionist spin, that we are all feart of him, and we need to stop, and start ignoring him, until its' time to oust him from his (current) seat.
I wish Jim Sillars would stand in East Renfrewshire, and then we could find out if there are actually any real Socialists left in the west of Scotland.
He might pick up some votes from the red tory neos, who only vote for "celebrities"

    1. Ok... we'll move on from him. You're right he's not worth the effort.

But it is a bit of a laugh.

Anyway, Munguin's Republic is having its Hallowe'en party tonight, so much merriment as bottles of champagne bite the dust every few minutes... so like an empty bottle of Veuve Cliquot, we'll consign him to the bin...
