  1. Tris,

    Cool photos.

There has to be a story behind 25. And Turkey (?) for 27. Incredible.

    Thanks, as always

    1. Dunno Douglas. I reckon it's just a little boy with his big dog, whom he loves loads...

And yes, Turkey. In the winter away from the coast these Near East countries can get really cold.

I was once in Albania in November. In the south, on the coast we were swimming in the Adriatic. Up north, inland, it was frosty.

  2. I doubt that 26 is Mongolia. There aren't any reindeer there. More like Arctic Russia.

Yeah, strange Bill, but it is indeed Mongolia.

  3. Bill,

I am not, personally sure what a reindeer looks like, but I came across this:

  5. oh those were smashing. That Iceland house is mad, imagine coming home after a couple of drinks and trying to negotiate through that. Lovely orange babies, the sweet wet little polar bear and another fav of mine - the baby elephant.

I do think the teddy deserves a better, less rodent owner. Me for example!

    2. You'd have thought the Icelanders would have had rollers for when they laid their lawns... I'm working out what kind of nightmare it would be to cut the grass.

I think Teddy and his rodent friend come as a team.

I don't understand why some people don't like them. I think they are cute as can be.

      ...and clearly so does Stuart!

    3. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH

I'm off to give my mice a nice piece of cheese and tell them not to worry. I won't let Conan's dogs anywhere near them.

    4. That is not grass. There is little real soil, as we know it, in Iceland, as the island is just volcanic rock, hardened weirdly shaped lava flows. The green stuff is moss but no Reindeer.

  6. Cool pix once again.

I'd hate to have to mow that lawn in Iceland.

    1. Ha ha. Yeah, that's been bothering me too Gerry.

We didn't have a competition to find out which was your pic today... I thought that now we put the locations on them, it made it a bit obvious!

But it does occur to me that there are two pictures of Scotland!

    2. Moss, you can scrape it off but it grows back

  7. No 4. Bloody big molehills.
No 5. Tufty! (Jim beat me to it). I remember the Tufty Club, all about safely crossing the road. If you tried to start anything called the Tufty Club nowadays people would think it was a lapdancing joint.
No 9. How fast can the photographer run?
No 17. Cute cub, But where the hell is it's mother?
No 22. For some reason all I could think of was the Lib Dem Conference.

I think the question is for number 9...how long was his lens?

      Willie Rennie in a barrow?

  9. The photograph from the Netherlands looks like Kinderdijk to us, World Heritage spot, last drainage working windmills in any concentration in the Netherlands. Been there twice and both times the weather was so reminiscent of Scotland, I will leave it up to you to decide whether that is good or bad

    1. Excellent choices Golfie.

You're in good company. Nicola tweeted last night that she and Peter had the tree up, and immediately got a load of negative comments like "about time" and "why has it taken you this long?".

Something to do with running Scotland I imagine.

Anyway, I hope it looks nice.

I don't do Christmas trees or decorations... or even Christmas that much. (Bah humbug and all that.)

But I do have one bit of tinsel that came off some parcel about 25 years ago, and I've kept it... and out it comes every year... so that doesn't take much time.
