YOU CAN ALWAYS TRUST THE SUNDAY MAIL...

Hmmmm.... This is the Sunday Mail's Interpretation of the findings. Quoted below from Lalands Peat Worrier are the comments of Lady Paton, one of the judges in his trial (with additional commentary from LPW).
It is possible, of course, that the Sunday Mail knows more about law than Lady Paton and Lalands, but somehow I doubt it. So it is, more than likely, just a pack of lies. A attempt to make any unionist, even a self confessed liar, from a party which Malcolm Bruce tells us, lies as a matter of course, look better than the sad old lying cheater, desperate to hold on to his £75,000 a year job, that he is, was found by law to be, and actually admitted he was in any case.

If this is "a good week"; something the Liberal Democrats are proud of, with Mr Rennie and Mr Farron appearing on tv and radio giving him their complete support, I fear for them. Open acceptance of a liar and a cheat as a senior member of the backbench team, is an affront, even to what little democracy there is in the UK. And that is what he is, even if technically they could't find him guilty under election law, of trying to rig the election.

Incidentally, as Liberal Democrat spokesman for Home Affairs (shadowing the Home Secretary), won't EVEL be a huge disadvantage for him in his work? Most of the Home Office business is involved in English Only matters. He may have an opinion, but he won't be able to vote on most of it.

I know their numbers are limited, but surely there must have been an English MP available for this largely English post.

  1. Well I think it is all to do with the internet, they cannot influence those who use it but they have high hopes that they can fool those who do not, usually the elderly. I would agree with you with regard to the post of Spokesman for Home Affairs, not only will he be at a disadvantage as a Scots MP but as a liar also, I imagine anything he says will be queried from now on, or maybe not.

    1. I imagine "disregarded" rather than queried.

He's proud to be a liar, it seems from his triumphant interviews.

No one will listen to anything he says, except his devoted follwoers, who it seems are few and far between.

  2. Oh but I do trust the Sunday Mail. As much as I trust the Daily Record but not as much as I trust the Rt Honorable Member of Orkney and Shetland...

    1. Right Honourable has certainly taken on a new meaning over the last few years, has it not?

    2. In his case, would that not be the "Aye Right" Honourable ?

      John.

    3. Brilliant, John. I'll call him that from now on.

  3. Their circulation drops 10% per annum. Soon, like the nawbags who read it, it will be extinct.

But the Liar Carmichael will always be a liar, and we can call him that everywhere without fear of contradiction or libel. For that we must thank the courts.

    1. Pretty much unless he's going to sue Lady Paton and himself, both of whom have called him a liar, I think we are safe as houses in referring to him as such...

  5. Harry Clarke (Bin Lorry Driver) and Alistair Carmichael (Lib Dem MP).
Lying to keep jobs, if you were an employer would you give them a job?

    1. NO. If I knew what we all know about them, I woudlnt; touch them with a tarry pole.

Of course, Bruiser Carmichael has a job, and a bloody good one, for the next five years. I suspect that Clarke will have to go down the Jobcentre where doubtless they will find him fit for work as an airline pilot.

  6. Clapper57

As retribution we should make him drive over Forth Road Bridge in a 68 Ton Tank together with 10,000 elephants ( they can wear parachutes just in case ) and he should be made to drive 100 times back and forth ( no pun intended ).

He could also test out, while sitting in tank, my new invention 'Razor Blade Lined Boxer Shorts' .

This , to me, seems a small punishment and most fitting ( no pun intended re boxer shorts ).

Failing that we could make him, as way of community service, become Donald Trump's personal hairdresser for 6 months as they seem to be cut from the same cloth ( again no pun intended re boxer shorts and re 'cut' as in hairdresser ).

BTW had to use anonymous as unable to select option that enables me to add me mantle Clapper57, am I thick ( rhetorical question re thick part ).

    1. LOL LOL Clapper.

No, you're not thick. Blogger can be a bit of a pain.

In theory (depending on what you are using) you should be able to go to "Reply as" and select from the drop down "Name/URL".

But it doesn't matter. I like folk to sign in some way to distinguish themselves from other Anonymous(es), but that's easily rectified in teh course of the comment.

I think all your suggestions are great, although I worry a bit for the elephants...

  7. Carmichael is a disgrace to politics. No party should allow such an individual to remain a member. He may have been cleared in court, but his behaviour was despicable. There is a difference between briefing against your political opponents, and outright lies especially involving a foreign power. Great way to screw up diplomatic relations.

If he had any sense he would resign as an MP and quietly retire into the background. If he genuinely cared for members of the Lib Dems he would, but like most politicians, all he cares about is himself.

    1. Yes. Even if you accept that it's OK to lie about people (Malcolm Bruce says they all do it), what on earth is one of HM's Privy Council doing calling the French Ambassadress a liar?

What kind of moron does that and remains a PC?

I'd say this regardless of party. The man is a disgrace to politics, and that is saying something.

If he were my MP I'd write to the neighbouring constituency member and ask him to deal with any issues I had. You could write to Carmichael with private and confidential information, and find that it had been leaked to further his career. If he can do it to the FM and a senior diplomat, then what chance would a mere peon like me have?
