HAVE ALISTAIR AND BLAIR LOST THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE FOR CONSORTING WITH THOSE WHO DON'T SHARE LABOUR VALUES?

OR, MAYBE THEY DO SHARE LABOUR VALUES...?

At the Tory Party Conference Fringe, these two look at home together...
We'll keep the blue flag flying here.
As people, from the well known Jeremy Hardy and Mark Steel, to folk with no public profile, but with years of support of the Labour  Party (including making donations and canvassing for them), are denied a vote in the leadership election because they "don't share Labour's values", some, allegedly, for as little retweeting a comment from someone in another party, I was wondering if talking at Conservative Party Conferences would debar the likes of D and McD  from casting their votes.

As it goes, I wonder what these values that some of their supporters don't share, actually are.

Anyone got any idea what Labour actually stands for?

And, would Keir Hardie get a vote in the current leadership contest?

NEW IMPROVED LABOUR...

WASHES TO A BLUEY WHITE

CREDIT FOR THIS TO COLIN DUNN...
It seems that all that's new about the Scottish team is Alex.
Apart from that, it's Jim the Blairite's team.
(Well,  when I say Blairite, I mean except when he's patronising Glasgow man by telling him he can get drunk at the fitba' and sing sectarian songs.)

THOUGHTS TO THINK ON TUESDAY

It could be funny, if it were not true.
It's a thought...
Yep, we moved out of the 19th century some time ago
So, remind me, where is the difference?
Remember that we are a Christian country.
We know this because Cameron and the Queen have told us so.
It's small wonder there is racial hatred, isn;t it?
That's radical, right-wing, billionaire sociopaths!
We don't want 200,000 new members unless they
agree do what Mr Blair tells them.
Caring and loving Kendall?
Disabled people are ordinary people you witless muppet!
Sorry. Mr Miliband was just out of shot there.
But we did manage to get this miserable tight wad git.
The deal seems to be that  for these cretins that
if you can't see poor people and their misery, then they
don't exist. The podgy one with the boozer's red face musta
have been absent the day they did that part of the  course.
Always a good choice to pick a good mate you've given a K
to investigate whether you are a murdering bastard or not.
What was it this oddball said about narrow nationalism?
You and Brown and a whole pile of other shamed and disgraced self servers.
For that reason, if no other, I hope Corbyn sweeps the board.
The Hague is beautiful in the autumn.

THERE IS SOMEONE EVEN LESS POPULAR THAN GORDON BROWN!

It's interesting that, according to an article in the Independent tomorrow, the two big guns that have been wheeled out to put Corbyn down are far less popular than Corbyn himself.

Corbyn would decrease Labour's chance of winning an election by 10%, but Blair would decrease their chances by 43% and Brown by 45%! Horrific results by comparison.

Of course the real horror of the Labour party would be the last leader! Ed would decrease their vote by 50%!

Horrifyingly, arch Blairout and all round bad fellow, David Miliband, would increase their chances of winning by 11%. The man is all but a Tory.

What's happened to their internal intelligence? Surely someone must have been aware that Gordon Brown is the kiss of death, so why did they haul him out of his retirement in Los Angeles to run a marathon back and forwards on the stage in London today...?

Answers on a postcard.

SOPPY SUNDAY

From Cynical Highlander

CONGRATULATIONS TO KEZIA

So at long last, what we have been pretty sure of for ages, is official.

Kezia Dugdale is the new Glasgow branch supervisor of Labour.

Oh yeah, and lest I forget, Alex Rowley (no, me neither) is her new deputy.

So first and foremost, I wish them well in their new posts. Scotland, like any other country, needs good opposition in parliament.

The reality is of course that this contest, which should have been so important to Scottish Labour, and to Scotland, has all been an anti-climax. Nothing much will change, unless there is a big change at the top. And the top is in London.

Both Ken Macintoch and Kezia Dugdale made it clear that they had no wish to run a separate Scottish Labour Party, where decisions, suitable for Scotland's issues and Scotland's views could be made about policy. So there was no opportunity for the membership to vote for that option.

They were happy with the status quo, where policy decisions are made in London.

I seem to recall that every Scottish "leader" has wanted to have more power over the day to day running of the Glasgow branch, and every Scottish "leader" has been slapped down by Blair, or Brown or Miliband.

Ironically, the one most sure of his own power, Jim "I don't need anyone's permission" Murphy, was slapped down by more lowly bosses in Ed Balls and Chuka Umunna (and on tv to boot!).

Many policies decided at the Scottish conference (Neil Findlay once said that Scottish conference had voted to get rid of Trident, for example), are simply ignored at the grown up conference in Blackpool or Brighton or wherever...

Kezia threw away the opportunity to stand on a ticket of a separate party, so her election is of little import, because all she will do is front up the party in the Scottish parliament as, in fact, she has been doing since she and Jim were elected just after the referendum.

So anti climax now until the real leader is elected next month in London.

Now that WILL be exciting.

JUST FOR A LAUGH

A young man was walking through a supermarket to pick up a few things when he noticed an old lady following him around. Thinking nothing of it, he ignored her and continued on. Finally he went to the checkout line, but she got in front of him.

"Pardon me," she said, "I'm sorry if my staring at you has made you feel uncomfortable. It's just that you look just like my son, who just died recently."

"I'm very sorry," replied the young man, "is there anything I can do for you?"

"Yes," she said, "As I'm leaving, can you say 'Good bye, Mother!' ? It would make me feel so much better."

"Sure," answered the young man.

As the old woman was leaving, he called out, "Goodbye, Mother!" As he stepped up to the checkout counter, he saw that his total was $127.50. "How can that be?" he asked, "I only purchased a few things!" "Your mother said that you would pay for her," said the clerk.

A man came into his wife's room one day. "If I were, say, disfigured, would you still love me?" he asked her.

"Darling, I'll always love you," she said calmly, filing her nails.

"How about if I became crippled and couldn't make love to you any more?" he asked nervously.

"Don't worry, darling, I'll always love you," she told him, buffing her nails.

"Well, how about if I lost my job as vice president?" Frank went on, "if I weren't pulling in six figures any more. Would you still love me then?"

The woman looked over at her husband's worried face. "Frank, I'll always love you," she reassured him, "but most of all, I'll really miss you."

In case you need further proof that the human race is doomed because of stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods.

On a Myer hairdryer: Do not use while sleeping. (darn, and that's the only time I have to work on my hair).

On a bag of Chips: You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside. (the shoplifter special?)

On a bar of Palmolive soap: "Directions: Use like regular soap." (and that would be how???....)

On some frozen dinners: "Serving suggestion: Defrost." (but, it's "just" a suggestion).

On Nanna's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom): "Do not turn upside down." (well...duh, a bit late, huh)!

On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding: "Product will be hot after heating."(...and you thought????...)

On packaging for a K-Mart iron: "Do not iron clothes on body." (but wouldn't this save me more time?)

On Boot's Children Cough Medicine:"Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication." (We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those 5-year-olds with head-colds off those forklifts.)

On Nytol Sleep Aid: "Warning: May cause drowsiness." (and...I'm taking this because???....)

On most brands of Christmas lights: "For indoor or outdoor use only."(as opposed to...what?)

On a Japanese food processor: "Not to be used for the other use."(now, somebody out there, help me on this. I'm a bit curious.)

On Nobby's peanuts: "Warning: contains nuts." (talk about a news flash!)

On an American Airlines packet of nuts: "Instructions: Open packet, eat nuts." (Step 3: maybe, uh...fly Delta?)

I don't blame the company. I blame the parents for this one: On a child's superman costume: "Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly."

On a Swedish chainsaw: "Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals." (...was there a lot of this happening somewhere?)

EVEN THOUGH THE SCOTTISH SUMMER HAS BEEN DISASTROUS ...

...DOESN'T MEAN IT'S THE SAME EVERYWHERE!

So Danny, our man in America, sent some pics of what summer is like over there...

No photos from Alaska then, Danny?

NAH JONG-UN: IF THEY WON'T TAKE MARK STEEL, THEY WON'T TAKE YOU

Well - an e-mail from Labour says my application has been rejected as I 'don't support their values'. Maybe I was meant to invade Iraq.
