WHY IS HE ASKED TO COMMENT...IS IT FOR COMEDIC VALUE?

The inept, bumbling prediction disaster that is McTeacake gets it spectacularly wrong, yet again.

I bet that Eagle managed to get through that cock up of a campaign launch which was arranged to coincide with the anointment of the reincarnation of Thatcher, and to which, consequently no one came, and thought to herself ... well, in the words of that old New Labour ditty, "Things can only get Better".

Then she saw that McTernan was rooting for her, and just knew, without any shadow of doubt, that her best bet would be to throw in the towel.

  1. Labour in Scotland is a bust flush until they can answer the biggest cultural, social & political divide in our country.

Are you a nationalist or unionist?

She (Kez), personally, has already flunked this with her ‘maybe aye, maybe naw’ approach to the (disastrous for Labour) Holyrood GE. But Scottish Labour might still be able to salvage a discernible position on this big question.

The current line of ‘we’re socialists so uncomfortable being either’ just makes them seem like an echo of a different time, a different age.

It opens the doors for Ruth to be the only credible leader in Scotland to save our union.

And nationally to the whole UK...well...Labour cannot continue having a leader unable to command the PLP, but claim mass support from the labour membership. No credibility. No leadership at a UK level. No credible answers to the biggest question in Scots politics. No unity or sense of purpose anywhere in the UK.

    Goodbye Labour.

I didn't seem to spot any of this reality in what McTernan said, although retaining Corbyn certainly won't help solve any of them; to that larger point McTernan might have a point.

    1. The only point that McTernan has is that pinnacle at the top of his skull.

    2. McTernan's point, if you like, is keeping us all amused with his predictions which are invariably not just wrong, but INCREDIBLY wrong. I always feel that he missed his vocation in life. Whatever he should have been it definitely wasn't a spin doctor.

The problem, Dean, with Labour, is that they are totally out of touch with the ordinary people, which is why they lost so many seats in Scotland, where there was an alternative left of centre party (and indeed as you once pointed out, a return to the Tories by the areas which are essentially Tory in nature but knew Conservatives had no chance in Scotland).

It's difficult for Labour in Scotland to make up their minds about where they stand on independence. Their leadership is against it becasue London tells them to be; their membership is split, and their voters are largely for, as results of recent elections have shown.

They can maintain a UK front, but they can;t get elected. Or they could get elected but their MSPs/MPs will never be big players on the world stage... and they want that more than anything.

In the UK it may be important to have the support of your MPs, but if your members won't campaign for you; the unions won't fund you, and the people wont vote for you, then you will be opposition. It reminds me of the political situation in 'Grand Fenwick' where they had an hereditary Prime Minister and an hereditary Leader of the Opposition. (The Mouse on the Moon.)

  2. If ever you want to win the Lottery ask McTernan to give you numbers for 5 lines, find the number he did not give and back them.

    Sure fire winner.

Has the man ever done anything correctly?

    1. Well, as he is a rabid, right-wing, warmongering careerist, he joined the Labour Party. So he at least got that correct.

    2. Ha ha... Sounds like a plan, Panda. As he's blocked me on Twitter, I wonder if you'd ask for me. Munguin will be grateful if he wins a few million.

He was perfect for Blair and Murphy, Jutie. I dare say he's hoping for a right winger so he can worm himself into another job...alternatively maybe Tessy has need of him?

  3. Read my article on Neville Chamberlain's stunning achievement in Munich in tomorrow's Daily Mail. Piece in our thyme.

  4. The sick joke that is the britnat bbc seems to have difficultly in finding intelligent commentators to talk on Scotland's politics. Thus it reverts to paying people like McTernan to spout rubbish. Thank god I don't pay the bbc tax.

    1. I think they go to him for a quote because they can guarantee that he will say something ridiculously right wing, and they love that.

    2. He needs to appear as often as possible and rake in as much money as he can before his sell-by date. He can't remain flavour of the week for much longer. Does anyone remember the other comic turn, Dr Magnus Pike?

  5. What a curious and, for some happy coincidence, that at the time of the Chilcott report being published, the two main establishment political parties - most of whose members had voted for the invasion despite knowing that the dossier was bollocks - were having totally un-necessary leadership challenges. Scanning the main media over the last few days show little, if any, mention of the report and, possibly in the fullness of time when memories have been distracted, a statement will be made "that lessons have been learned"

As a result, in the mean-time, the Labour party would appear to be in the process of electing as leader someone only known to the most ardent of anoraks and whose achievements are minimal. Is that really the best they can find?

    1. Very handily all this leadership stuff combine with Brexit and Trident is keeping Chilcott out of the headlines. I did see somewhere that the families of the dead soldiers are going to take Blair to court. I think they are crowd funding it because it will cost the Earth. (If I find the link, I'll put it up.) I also read that the British government will pay Blair's costs. Now that may be fictitious but, knowing the Brits, it may be true.

Never heard of Owen Jones. Not sure why they chose him. In my opinion he's even worse than Eagle. He's not good in a debate, he trots out platitudes, and he comes over to me as being as oily as Michael Howard.

      Yuk.

I suspect that David Miliband will come back, be found a safe seat and get the leadership back for Tony.

Then he and Tessy, or whoever comes after her can have a cosy coalition.

      Hopefully we'll be gone.

  6. Whose payroll is McTeacake on? If I were a member, I would be bringing up a questiion about why he is still employed.

I would also be asking who employed him in the first place. They need to be removed from any position of influence. They obviously did not check his references properly.

    1. Well, in the brief days of Jim Murphy, he was employed by Scottish Labour to run the election campaign. That went well when they lost 40 or their 41 seats. I read somewhere that Kezia didn't want to continue employing him, but I'm not sure that he was sacked. Possibly she wasn't allowed to by London.

  7. Seem to be having internet problems today.
Why anyone pays any attention to this guy is beyond me.
I always assumed that Eagle was put up to "encourage" Corbyn to stand aside at which point the real contenders would come out from below the floorboards,a bit like what happened with that other London based party.

    1. I reckon that you're right, bringiton. No one could seriously imagine that she was prime ministerial, specially when she burst into tears about stabbing Jeremy in the back.

I reckon David Miliband will be back very soon.

Or maybe they could get Jim Murphy. He has a proud record in Scotland and McTernan could be at his side all the way.

I don't really give a crap about anything that McTiernan has to say, I actually find him to be vile to be honest. Eagle, I don't know what she was thinking, she must have been put up to it because there is no way she can have thought she would win. She is probably looking at deselection now, so like Smith, she better ramp up the expenses as she won't be around after 2020, if she even lasts that long.

Labour are fucked to be honest, they need to embrace Corbyn and with that PR , that is their best hope of surviving in the longer term. Once Union funding changes they will have a lot less, I know that not one penny of my Unite membership monthly will be going to them, I will make sure of that. If they want to survive in Scotland they have to either come out for the union all the way or come out for yes all the way, if they come out for the union then they will have to build from pretty much scratch, if they come out as yes they could actually form the government in an independent Scotland at some point sooner than they will at Westminster. They do have to get shot of the Blairites thought and that includes the hateful McTiernan.

    1. Don't disagree with any of that, Bruce.

If I were labour I'd come out for independence. It's what their core voters seem to want, if the results of the election is anything to go by.
