WELL, THAT SHOULD HACK CAMERON OFF

This EU whole thing gets more exciting by the day.

I wonder if she's purred that little message down the phone to Eton Boy!

If you read the small print of course, the Sun is about a year out of date with this news, as the story tells of how she "let rip" at the then deputy Prime Minister Cleggy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the skiving, skiing prince, Willy, say only a couple of weeks ago, before he disappeared on yet another holiday, that they should stay in the Union?

All this London politics gets a bit complex for us poor Scots. Conflicting evidence from two of the most respected political commentators of the family.

Still, as I say, it should hack Cameron off, and really, who could ask for more?

It's probably worth saying that Buckingham Palace and Clegg and everyone else denies absolutely that this happened and the household says the Queen would never get involved in politics. Not in the UK, not in Scotland, not in Québec, and not in Europe.

  3. HaHa, I hope Caneron is raging. Another reason why I can't wait until we are not only independent, but an independent republic.

    1. LOL. Yep, it will push a lot of people in that direction.

Not available last night when I published, but apparently she said something again to a group of MPs and a reception at Buck House.

Although everyone is totally denying it. She would never, they say, interfere in politics...

Except in the Québec referendum, the Scottish referendum and now the Europe referendum...

  7. If she said it a year ago, it obviously wasn't about Brexit. Could it have been about the harsh treatment of Greece?

    1. It was some time ago and then more recently, she had another go. You can read the full story here:

    3. Nope. But I don't believe Nick Clegg or Buckingham Palace either.

Both have been known to lie.

  8. Sorry to go absolutely off topic but the Torygraph is reporting a £15bn current deficit for Scotland under SNP stewardship.
This appalling state of affairs brought about by London mismanagement of our economy must be entirely laid at their doorstep.
They have demanded the right to retain macro economic policy over Scotland and continue to collect most of our income,so the buck continues to stop with them.
Deficits don't just happen by themselves but are the direct result of economic policy decisions which in our case are policies made in England.
We didn't choose England's insane austerity policies for ourselves....their Tory government did.

    2. I'm pretty sure that if we didn't renew Trident; if we didn't have to maintain soldiers in all sorts of places all over the world to maintain the fallacy that Britain is a world power; if we didn't have to maintain the royals in numerous gilded palaces; if we didn't have embassies in nearly every country in the world; it we didn't have to pay from crossrail and sewers in London and a new House of parliament in London not to mention a railway to Birmingham from London, we could pay the £15 billion off pretty rapidly.

      Jeeeez.

As yu say Marcia... Isn't the UK debt somewhere over 1000 times more than that. Of course that isn't the deficit. I have no idea what the deficit is in the UK, George says he's been paying it down, but who believes George. Does he even know what a deficit is. The Prime Minister didn't.

Oh well, that £16 trillion will just have to go up a bit more.

  11. I'd be careful about assuming all Scots want to remain.

Where I live, there are a few social housing developments. Inside word is that one set of about 60 odd flats have been set aside for immigrants, be they genuine refugees or not. That does not go down well where the housing waiting list is about 15 years.

As to the Queen story, load of bollocks. It's in the Sun.

    2. Oh, I know many Scots don't want to remain.

There's a lot of racism in Scotland and a lot of xenophobia.

The Brits have agreed to take in some refugees, which doubtless, in their infinite wisdom, they will have vetted.. and surely the second greatest nation on earth could manage that without making an erse of it... Oh no, wait, it's May's department, isn't it?

Some of my neighbours are among the biggest bigots I've ever come across.

There's one in particular who was complaining that his son and law, who owns an hotel in England, was forced by the EU to provide accommodation for the Poles he employed full time. I told him that, as I worked in the employment business, if that were true I might have heard of it, and I hadn't. But in any case, I suggested, if it was that bothersome to accommodate Poles, why didn't he employ some English people to work in hotel... No answer came there.

On another occasion he insisted that it was Poles who were responsible for the empty cans of beer that he had found in a garden area close to the house. Why, I asked? It was Polish beer, he replied. Well, in fact, it was Czech beer available in Sainsbury. I've had it myself and I'm not Polish. A few days after that I found some French wine bottles (also available in Sainsbury) down there. I suspect the French have been coming up here drinking their own wine and leaving the bottles for decent hard working British Families to pick up... I think by this time he knew I was taking the urine.

The man is determinedly anti anything or anyone who isn't British. And there are many like him.

I thought it was interesting though that the half German queen, with her Danish/Greek husband are anti the EU, from which doubtless their estates make a good deal of farming subsidy.

Still with her 4th cousin Gideon in the treasury I dare say she, at least, will get a packet more from the crown estates to make up for any of her losses.

As I've said, I'm ambivalent. Stay or go is a matter of relative disinterest to me.

I take anything I read in the MSM with a pinch of salt. I also immediately assume that Buckingham Palace is lying. I also immediately assume that Nick Clegg is lying,. It's a default for them. Liz has form on this. I well remember listening to the spoof Premier of Canada, calling her and speaking to her on radio, where she openly agreed to do whatever she could to help Canada defeat the Québecois ... and how he cleverly managed to get her to repeat it all in French for the benefit of his french speaking audience. And we know that she was asked to say something about Scotland.

Not much of a choice. The Lying Sun, Nick Vow Clegg, and Buckingham Palace...

    3. Phil's about as Greek as you or me. They are Danes or Germans. In fact, casual observation suggests that pretty much all of the "royals" in Europe are more or less Germans.

Don't have anything against Germans myself. Would be in favour of emulating what they indeed did to their own "royals" in 1918.

    4. Wasn't his mother some princess of Greece? Although as you say, they all seem to be related to Victoria who was German.

      I've nothing against Germans either.

I wish we had had their post war governments.

    6. "I wish we had had their post war government"

Apart from the current one. Merkel has screwed up on the migrant crisis and she screwed Greece. Although my view is Greece should never have been allowed into the EU in the first place.

Germany and France run Europe. No one else has any real influence.

    7. Yes she did. But then, she is a decent woman. She was touched by the horror of the crisis.

No one has come up with an answer. I'm not sure that there is an answer.

We have to accept that our lives have changed with these desperate people leaving their desperate countries, many of which have been made desperate in part by Western actions over the years, and recently.

I think Greece should be in the EU. It should never have been et into the Euro because it did not meet the criteria. Come to that neither did the UK and it had to leave the precursor of the Euro.

I agree that what happened to Greece over the debt was shameful, and Germany has to take responsibility.

britain could have been a part of running Europe if it were not so right wing and so disagreeable. it has a big economy too, but it's opted out of so much and it complains about everything, and always has, so it's not surprising it gets left out. Who wants a moaning ninny with them, lording it.

There are still however many things that can be vetoed, no matter how much Germany wants them.
