...WELL, IT'S WORTH A TRY

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/43631

This is a petition on line asking the London Department of Culture Media and Sport to ensure balance and impartiality in the referendum.

e-petition

BBC coverage of the Scottish Independence referendum should be impartial and balanced

Responsible department: Department for Culture, Media and Sport
The upcoming 2014 Scottish independence referendum is possibly the biggest decision facing this country in generations.
As a public funded body, the BBC (in Scotland) should have a responsibility to report both sides of the debate in an equal and fair way.
The Ofcom broadcasting code does not apply to the BBC in respect of areas concerning impartiality, accuracy, elections or crucially in this case, referendums. This needs to be rectified.
In light of the historic vote due to take place in 2014, it is vital that no particular viewpoint is given preferential treatment.
The BBC should fairly represent the views of all Scottish licence fee payers and should provide both sides of the argument (in accordance with the Ofcom broadcasting code section 6) to encourage a well informed debate in Scotland and help ensure that the democratic validity of the result cannot be questioned.

And i wish to commend you for the good works
you are and will continue to do.
    As always the BBC does

' fairly represent the views of all Scottish licence fee payers and should provide both sides of the argument (in accordance with the Ofcom broadcasting code section 6) to encourage a well informed debate in Scotland and help ensure that the democratic validity of the result cannot be questioned.'

Once again please keep to the usual unbiased standard which has gained world wide respect.
No regard what so ever should be given to a organized politically motivated cabal who wish to subvert and intimidate the BBC into
    submission to their views.

we await the snp disowning this dastardly attempt to distort the BBC

    Kind regards Nikostratos albinus

  2. It is in everyone's interest, Niko, that the state broadcaster doesn't tell lies, or obfuscate, or hide, or tamper with, or in any way alter the news.

Evidently a state broadcaster which can get away with the things that the BBC does has a vested interest in there being no change, but it has to rise above that and try to present the stories properly.

This they have failed to do over the period of the debate and indeed have said that there is no legal obligation upon them to do so until the official campaign begins.

In particular over the last few days they have used the GERS story to tell a half truth, and dressed it up with what I can only describe as James Bondish "Top Secret" stamps.

They have implied that the Scottish government is alone in making all kinds of forecasts using all kinds of scenarios. If it is, I expect that that is why the rest of the UK is in such a mess.

They misrepresented the deficit which they said suggested that Scotland would not be viable on its own, by failing to point out that it was a smaller deficit than the rest of the UK and that in fact Scotland had subsidised the UK.

They have recently said that Scotland would struggle to pay pension and benefits, and by not pointing out that the UK will also struggle sustain pensions and have already cut benefits very severely, with a great deal more to come. 65% of the cut have not yet been implemented remember!

Oil income fluctuations will affect Scotland, they pointed out, but they failed to point out that it will affect the UK. (As if it is likely to get much cheaper.)

They also fail to point out that as an independent country we have enough gas to last for 20 -30 years and are well on target to create green energy; as part of the UK where we have to put our energy into the grid, we will have to pay for imported gas from the Middle East and Russia, which will mean increases of well over 50% in the next few years. Maybe over 100% if the Russians get greedy.

They lie Niko. Whatever way it works out, it would be better for stability if we can depend on the BBC to present the facts.

  3. Lordy John, don't tell me the BBC have mounted a take over for Munguin's Republic while I was out for dinner...?

  4. There you are Niko...

Secret SNP papers are telling us that we could lose our pensions... and only a few days ago the Daily Express told us the same thing about... Westminster.

  5. The BBC is showing the UK as a dictatorship by being its propaganda arm whichi s why trust in its honest news reporting around the world is being questioned. I see Niko is still taking those Bitter together pills sad to see someone succumb to drugs.

  6. What I found most interesting CH, was that it is alleged to have started under the Tories in Winston's day, but was continued under the devolved Scottish establishment (this being written in 2002).

This was too weaken the socialist hold that Glasgow had... Imagine Tony Blair's puppet wanting to do that...

  7. How to counter BBC propaganda – It’s the BBC Stupid! – Part 2

In the first essay on state-sponsored political propaganda, It’s the BBC stupid, we looked at the nature of BBC bias with respect to independence. We determined that:

The BBC has power because it is believed

The best and most effective propaganda is propaganda that is not recognised as propaganda by its victims.

    1. Do you have no aspiration for your country and its people? The moon has never been offered only a more honest situation than the corrupt Westminster model which you seem in love with.

  9. Niko,

Blair and company told lies which resulted in thousands of innocents being killed and yet, thanks to the main-stream media, the faithful and deluded still voted for them.

When journalists were reporting from Iraq the bright flashes behind them were not celebrations of the invasion but signified men women and children being killed and mutilated. Does that make any sense to you for voters to be so brain-washed into condoning such actions?

I suspect the better together campaign of misinformation has only just started and the voters you mention will, no doubt, be deceived and influenced by it all.

    1. True John. Everytime there was a flash or a bang, there were people being killed by our side because someone made a up a lie about WMDs so that they could get their greedy hands on the oil.

I don't understand how anyone can have any time for a British (or any other) government that was complicit in that.

Kudos to Charlie Kennedy, Alex Salmond and Jacques Chirac who said 'no' and 'non' respectively.

As for that "good Christian" (so good that he waited till AFTER he stood down as prime minister to become a catholic, in case it interfered with his career in money making), or as I prefer to call him "war criminal", Blair, I'd suggest his next money spinner, sorry, I mean job, should be running the Vatican Bank. They look about suited to each other.

  11. They wouldn't pay any attention, Bruce. The minute anyone from the Yes campaign opens his/her mouth they start talking among themselves and yawning.
