  1. awhh aren't they lovely and I wish I was still in bed but alas no.

I'm so impressed by that cheetah mum as it's very hard to raise 4 cubs, they are lucky if even one survives.

In picture 3 what manner of creature is it in the pink spotted plumage? :-) Joking aside love Soppy Sunday but shouldn't there have been a bunny... It is Easter.

    1. Ah yes. Bunny! I forgot.

And my computer has thrown a wobbly, so I can't get pics to make good my mistake...

      Next year?

  3. Great photo's again Tris, love No 9 in Alaska, reminds me of my forrest years.

Yep, number 3 was me, snapped hastily on a wee trip out to Glenboig (pronounced Glenboag) with my grand daughter and sent from my mobile phone.

I see you managed to get a photo of my wife's mother at No 17, a well captured image.

Have a great Easter. (what's bunnies got to do with celebrating the invention of chocolate?)

    ;)

    1. Hi Gerry

I hope you realise I was joking about your granddaughter. It just rare to see many actual humans in Soppy Sunday! She looks well chuffed to pet the pony.

    2. Yep I understood PP, she's a wee gem. Grand weans are a great excuse to do things you wouldn't otherwise do. I've driven by those ponies a number of times while working, finally got an excuse to stop.

    3. Thought it was Gerry, but it just arrived in my inbox with a phone number... so I wasn't sure.

      Thanks anyway for it.

As PP says we don't have many humans in SS but this week we have two!

Erm, I hope your mother in law isn't a MR devotee, otherwise you're in the doghouse!

Kids (and grandkids) are a marvellous excuse for doing things you always wanted to but were a bit embarrassed about.

    4. I have a French friend, Claudine, who loves highland cows (Vaches Ecossaises) I keep sending her postcards, which she puts up in her office in SNCF in Paris. It must look like a Scottish field by now!

  4. Bloody soppy Sunday - I find myself going round the house singing "Oobee do, I wanna walk like you..." whilst the Boss is muttering what sounds suspiciously like the Arabic version of "Oh, FFS"! 5alas!

    1. Bloody John Brownlie!

There's always someone who has to complain, isn't there?

Anyway, should you not be in the church right now?

I'm sure you've been wicked enough all week and the minister will be wanting to chastise you!

      Ew er!

Do the Wee Frees have lady ministers yet, or is that a century or so down the line?

      :)

  5. All great as usual, the cheetah acting a Sun shade, brilliant. The bridge stunning, as a symbol, potent.

    1. Thanks Golfie.

As PP says, cheetah have a hard job raising cubs. This one looks like she's a great mum.

I thought the bridge was powerful too. Almost some sort of portent of something...

    2. Loved them all and all the cats too PP, would probably have one but promised Hektor's breeder I wouldn't because of his eyes mind he visits houses where the resident cats do not mind (we hope) and Pugs have many cat like features, he swishes his tail too when he is not pleased.
The ponies are lovely and we watch the ones in the field opposite the house all the time, fortunately Hektor has not yet noticed them. Panda Paws is quite correct as Cheetah's lose kills to other predators like Hyena and lion which make feeding young hard and I imagine three cubs really difficult.
We are keeping an eye on the Bridge, it is coming along well. Much taller than its neighbours, quite majestic. We can see it from the Public Park by the Station and I would agree wit Gerry as a symbol it is potent. Helena

    3. Keep us informed of the progress, Helena.

It's a dramatic picture of it in the mist and backlight.

    4. Where is the bridge? Do they have signs or something to keep people from trying to cross it on a dark foggy night?

    5. I remembered Danny was an overseas visitor. The Bridge is the new Forth Crossing. It is being built alongside the existing Forth Rail and Road bridges. It is a marvel to behold.

The photograph has been taken from the north bank of the river on the Rosyth side. Google maps shows it earlier in its construction at map coordinates around 56.019N by 3.419E.

It is important to us because of the local political symbolism.

    6. Well we have signs but when the Tories are coming we paint them out. Cameron will be in the forth one of these days with a bit of luck.

    9. Thanks SA and Tris for the information. Great picture, and it's clearly a very impressive construction. (Good plan for the Tories too. I wonder if the builder of the old Tay Bridge might of had it in for Queen Victoria.)

As for the East/West longitude confusion, that's surely a continuing problem for people who live around the Prime Meridian. I would like to suggest that it be relocated to Washington, where we would take good care of it, and eliminate all that local confusion in Scotland and England. A little bit of additional confusion and dysfunction in Washington will hardly be noticed.

    10. Well, that sounds like a plan, but I suspect the English are really fond of the fact that time starts in their country at Greenwich.

Still if it comes as a "request" from the President to that numbnuts that is in No 10, it will surely be granted and then he'll ask if they want anything else.

If I remember rightly old Bouche got a K from Vikki. Maybe he was expecting a seat in the lords and was a tad disappointed. Seems like a good way of getting rid of unwanted royalty. It would have been a pity for the others on the train though.

  9. Lovely photos as usual. The last one is a cracker. Now you really must stop including any mention of Norway, we don't want to upset any of our differently opinioned readers. It seems to upset them for some reason - I don't know why, it seems a lovely place.
