  1. oh that's spooky. Just last night I was reading and old magazine that had that picture of the town by the gorge. It's Ronda in Spain!

Beautiful landscapes but what is that cute white bundle in the hand?

Tris you might want to visit someone next week with a TV if not a recorder. Wednesday bbc2 12.45pm "I know where I'm going" from 1945 set in the Highlands with a very young Petula Clark.

I expect an orang picture next week as thanks for the tip ;-)

    1. It's a lovely town PP... Imagine living on one of the houses just on the edge!!!!!

The wee bundle is, believe it or not, a Polar Bear!!!!

You have a deal. Pet told a story about that film. Of course the other people in it were very big stars, and indeed the film won great critical acclaim (and was recently celebrated at a festival in Canada), but Petula herself was just a kid and not a star at all (she only had a few scenes). The director was formidable, and she was terrified of him. He was a perfectionist and sometimes took ages over a scene, and one time, she was bursting to go to the toilet, and he plastered and plastered and took forever, till poor Pet peed her pants!

There you go. It can happen to anyone, even people who go on to become international stars!

Thanks for the heads up. Munguin (who has actually met Petula and presented her with a box of chocolates on stage) will reward you with an orang!!!

    1. Morning Gerry.

It is beautiful, but I don;t know whether it is sun rise or set. I searched it on Google, but it's from an Arabic site and I can't read it!!

      Anyway, have a peaceful day.

    2. Personally I would go sunset as it doesn't feel right for a sunrise which tend to have a colder look about them.

  3. That church looks rather isolated. Is that the manse that can be seen in the distance?

    1. I'm always amazed at how far from villages some country churches are. I guess they put them in the middle of the area they were due to serve, but must have been a long journey for some people. This one is in Iceland, so it's probably Lutheran. I'm not sure that they have manses as such, but I guess their "ministers" have to live somewhere. You'd have thought they would have put his house on the road though. Being Iceland I'm guessing it gets a bit snowy in the winter... I hope he has long wellies!

  4. Lovely Photos Tris and Munguin, nearly missed the wee polar bear, thanks Panda Paws for mentioning him/her. The monkey is looking after the wee dog I expect maybe cleaning up the fleas, well they are tasty. We were admiring our Sapphire skies last night, had one or two good sunsets here in Carnock, mind could count them on the back of the hand, but Hektor's crows were late last night for their last meal before sleep, fortunately Hektor did not see them he was sleeping of his rage at the horses in Mongolia, we were watching the Booze traveller who was there drinking fermented mares milk and the best Vodka apparently anywhere.

    1. The wee bear is certainly this week's cutest.

I like seeing animals make friends with other types of animal. There's no real reason why they shouldn't. The most harmful species is man and some animals make friends with them..

I'd rather have a monkey myself!

I saw that Johanna Lumley trip from Hong King to Moscow. She went through Mongolia. Amazing people. Would love to make the journey, but I'm not sure about fermented Mare's milk!

I'll stick with the vodka. No miserable Scottish measures there!

    2. I hate to be the bearer (no pun intended) but, the wee bear is actually a stuffed toy, still cute though.

    4. Maybe Jimnarlene, but is the baby Rhino not at least a close relative of Jackie Baillie? The pic on Wings ( Empty Cupboard ) bears ( geddit ) a striking resemblance.

    5. I think Jim is on the button have a look at the claws.

    7. Yeah I see that CH... but look at the angle of his head... a toy wouldn't do that surely?

  5. Ta for popping my video up Tris and just for info the House sparrows here have been on the increase as have the Woodpeckers as other species have declined in numbers. The webcam is inside a plastic bottle about 5ft from the feeder and to get any L/R U/D one has to zoom in which sadly reduces the clarity.

    1. It was a brilliant watch CH. Thanks for sharing it.

I always think that sparrows are really well behaved birds who wait patiently for each other to finish, before getting up to the feast themselves.

They are the exact opposite of our starlings, who would fight over anything!
