    1. :)

I didn't know Mags was his mum. No wonder she has been looking at him adoringly.

As someone used to say to me... "you've got a face only a mother could love".

  12. From a personal and political point of view I hope that Murphy stays as "Scottish Leader" but I cannot imagine what they were thinking of to appoint Murphy and Fifi as "Leaders". With the present leadership I cannot see them being able to set up a credible alternative to the SNP in net year's election. I do think that Scottish Labour would have very little to lose and much to gain by completely breaking away from the UK Labour party with separate policies designed to reflect the opinions and aspirations of Scottish voters .With that in mind they should be taking advice from Malcolm Chisholm, John McAllion and even Dennis Canavan on how the party could return to it's roots as it is obvious even to the most obtuse that the present policies do not appeal to voters.

    1. I too want him to stay... and come to that his assistant, who actually does have political legitimacy, having been elected by constituents!

The need for labour to move to the right in England to capture the votes it needs to get itself elected, and it need to do the exact opposite in Scotland, highlights the two countries situation.

Of course we voted against that in the referendum, so tewo parties it will be.

As London is going ahead with EVEL, there won't be much point in being a Scottish Labour MP any more, perhaps they could look at setting up a separate party in Scotland.

I agree with your choice of advisers.

  14. That made me smile.

Do hope Murph stays because it would ensure the further decline of Labour.

Yet the thought of him becoming an MSP courtesy of Holyrood's assisted places scheme (the List) gives me the creeps. It would mean years of viewing his face on BBC Scotland unless and until we can have broadcasting devolved and begin the delousing of Pacific Quay.

Can't quite put my finger on it but there's something of the night about Jim.

    1. Agreed.

I have to say I approve of the list. It balances parliament up, and it makes it a fairer place than that London place. But of course it is a way for parties to get people in when they want them in parliament.

At least, unlike London they do have to have people's votes behind them.

They just put people in the Lords.

He didn;t get the name Creepy Jim for nothing...

(Note from Munguin: That not really his name, Tris. It's just what people call him because he is creepy!)

    2. Presently I am back reading Elizabeth Hunter's books about Vampires and I have to say they mostly are nice people, her one real villain is Lorenzo and I think Jim fits his profile. Nasty nasty man/vampire. Trouble is he is ageing and vampires do not age.
I have signed the petition to keep him he is such a catch for Labour. Intelligent, well connected and so beloved. (not)
