RANDOM THOUGHTS ON SATURDAY

I thought that the video Arbroath shared with us on the last post was worth repeating here. It's pretty hard to comprehend what was going through Mr Donohoe's mind when he came out with that.

It appears that despite there being 3 nuclear subs on the Clyde, the Russians were, at the time that Angus was speaking, sailing up the same river in one of their submarines, and moreover, there were tankers going over the top of Scotland from the same place.

So, what is Mr Donohoe saying? Maybe we need 12 or 20 nuclear submarines. Now let's see. if 4 cost around £100 billion, 12 would cost £300 billion, and 20 around £500 billion. Still when you have a debt of some £1.5 trillion, what's a few hundred billion here or there?

There's always food banks, and we can always get Esther and Iain to kill off a few more thousand pensioners and sick people.

Bloody idiot.

I think Stuart Campbell made a good point (again) on Twitter today.

He said, if you are one of the independentists who are calling people traitors and Quislings, you're not helping.

We have seen the unionists throwing insults at Nicola (that wee lassie wi' a tin helmet). We've seen the slurs originating in UK government departments, with reference to the FM's meetings with foreign diplomats. We are aware of the bully boy tactics of the unionist press (the way, for example, they used the story of the SNP defector who was nothing of the kind) and we saw the way that the middle class millionaire men tried to shout down the three working class women in the tv debates.

People really do seem to be looking for a better more decent kind of politics, less aggressive and less macho. We should be aware of this. SNP membership rose by around 2000 following the debates. I'm prepared to bet that the Labour, Tory and Liberals had no such boost!

I think it's perfectly legitimate to point out when someone has said something despicable or has been uncovered as a cheat (Fallon in the last post) or has said something so monumentally stupid and self defeating (Donohoe in this post) that it leaves you saying... Whit?

It's perfectly reasonable to dismiss what you believe to be utter lies, and to be scathing of the people who tell them... on any side of the argument. And a dig at our opponents' weaknesses is worth a laugh. Politics is a hard game. If you can't take the heat...etc.

But calling people Quislings because they feel British first and want to be and stay British, and owe their loyalty to the British state or the British queen, doesn't help any more that calling someone like Stuart, who sounds very much like a social democrat to me, Hitler.

Just my opinion, but I'd welcome your take on it...

And I warn you, I'll probably get angry at some point and fall foul of my own principles!

It must be very handy to have a mother who can get you excused from facing sex charges. I hope this judge knows that even if she makes him a knight, he won't be able to use the title. Still, knowing he has it may be of comfort to him.

The whole thing is unfortunate. If Airmiles had been treated like an ordinary mortal, he would have been able to plead his case and we would have heard the evidence for and against and been able to make up our minds whether he was guilty or not.

As it is all we know is that there were allegations and that he has denied them.

So we are left to make up our own minds based on that slim amount of information. Not satisfactory.

DEAR LABOUR

From the office of the proprietor

Munguin Towers,
Munguin Rise,
Munguinstown,
SCOTLAND

Dear the Labour Party of Great Britain,

I was just reading a Wings over Scotland story about your voting today on the issue of Trident Renewal, of which, incidentally, I feel you should be heartily ashamed.

I noticed that, with his usual aplomb, Stuart was able to provide a link to  the 2010 Labour manifesto "A future fair for all"  in which you said that you were committed to maintaining Britain's independent nuclear deterrent.

I was wondering if any of you could explain to me in what way a weapons system which is joined at the hip to America's system and which cannot be used with a) permission, and b) the physical passing of the firing codes from the Pentagon to the submarine commander, could be called "independent".

You might also like to comment upon the fact that the Scottish Conference, according to Neil Findlay, voted against the retention of the weapons of mass destruction. Given the alleged ''independent (not a branch office at all) nature'' of the Scottish party, (according to what you said when Iain Gray was leader, again when Johann Lamont was leader and now that Jim Murphy is leader), is it not strange that this resolution has been discarded. Particularly given that the weapons are based not 20 miles from the centre of Labour's heartlands...Glasgow.

Kind regards

Munguin
Proprietor: Munguin's Republic.

PS: Take my advice and tell that dimwit Donohoe, if he can't say anything that isn't completely and laughably ridiculous, or that doesn't even remotely make sense, then he'd be better to shut up and just take the money.

He really made a fool of himself tonight.

(Dictated by Munguin, signed in his absence by TPW.)

WHERE'S ALL THAT SOCIALIST STUFF WE WERE PROMISED LAST WEEKEND?

Look... a socialist (about to leave parliament?)
Diane Abbott

Ronnie Campbell

Katy Clark

Michael Connarty

Jeremy Corbyn

Kelvin Hopkins

Glenda Jackson
Goodness...another socialist (about to leave parliament?)

John McDonnell

George Mudie

Linda Riordan

Dennis Skinner

Tom Watson

Mike Wood

The rest of you make us sick. (Please note the clever and subtle colour coding.)

We hope very much that one day you will need a hand up (although frankly we doubt you will), and, although we are not proud to feel this, nonetheless we cannot lie, we most fervently hope that you don't get one.

The government has excluded pensions from the benefits ceiling, because even Tories, thick and out of touch though they are, know that if you risk pensioners' payments you risk the next election.
This woman is either so hypocritical
or so dense. Have a read of this
and enjoy a good laugh.

They have also excluded benefits paid to unemployed people possibly because the fit, unwaged can riot something horribly, as they found to their cost a few years ago when Cameron was obliged to return from his Tuscan villa to sort of Tessy May's mess.

The people this will hit hard are their beloved strivers: people working on minimum wage, but living in accommodation where the rent is higher than their take home pay; people working part time because there are no full time jobs; and people who are disabled or ill and their carers.

I suppose it should come as no shock to us that Labour wholeheartedly agreed with the Tories. Why would they not think that people, already horribly disadvantaged, should be beaten over the head with a stick by a set of greedy lowlife.

Yuk
Nausea alert
Let's not forget that MPs will all be enjoying an 11% pay rise shortly (at our expenses), that they all can enjoy cheap food and drink (at our expense) including the many who, despite the furore over their being caught stealing with abandon, are still on the fiddle over their expenses... and who, when they are taken to task about expenses, reduce staff to tears and resignation... so they get away with overspending and sending their purchased goods to the wrong address.

Labour: the party of the working banker, royal and MP and top businessman.

The thing that I find so amazing is that last week they were all "Keir Hardie" and "Keep the Red Flag Flying Here" and Alex Salmond's just like the Tories, comrade, as we were enjoined to celebrate their return to socialism.

They couldn't even keep it up for a whole week.

Pinko Tory bastards.

WANT TO WATCH SOMEONE STANDING ON THEIR DIGNITY?

This is worth watching. Brian Donohoe, apparently an MWP, despite saying that he wanted to get his message out, objected to the rest of us being allowed to see it. He says it was because he wasn't given the courtesy of being personally asked for permission to film it.

It appears that his dignity has been wounded. He must feel himself to be a very special person to believe that it was more important that courteousness be shown to him than that more people should get the opportunity to hear the debate.

Oh what great helpings of self regard these little men have.

He'd be black affronted if he could see us here at Munguin Towers, rolling around the floor laughing at his pomposity and dubious vocabulary.
