    1. Well, it's not a bad guess, CH. It is the kind of pic he excels at.

  2. Love Sunday mornings here. The wee cock sparrow my favourite, the orang reminds me of someone but best keep that to myself.
    Have a good day everyone.

    1. Morning Golfnut... Thanks for your kind words. Glad you enjoy the Sunday offerings.

I love the sparrow too, although it's always hard to choose a favourite.

Hope you remembered to change you clocks!!!

      :)

    1. Well, yes, you do.... but I have to ask why on earth you'd want a portrait of Munguin!

    2. He's a cute little fella. Bit of a megalomaniac, but cute.

    3. Well... when you are an international media mogul, who mixes with government ministers, ambassadors, pop stars and foreign dignitaries, you're bound to be a bit power crazy...

  5. So hard to pick a favorite this week Tris.

Think I'd go for the baby elephant - the one that looks like Willie Rennie and is saying "Look, there's a squirrel over there"

    1. LOL! The poor wee thing. He doesn't really look like Wee Willie... it's just the way the light caught him.

      :)

  6. ah they are adorable apart from the flying rats bullying the wee burd. Well that's how I'm choosing to look at it. I adore baby elephants and of course our lovely orange friends. No not the ones with flutes - our furry cousins.

I think my favourite is the orang sheltering under a leaf because frankly my umbrella yesterday was about as much use as a leaf so I know how s/he feels.

    1. Nah, it's the wee bird bullying the pigeon... and he'll win too!

Bad weather your way PP? Lovely sunny day here yesterday in Munguin's own country.

    2. The wee sparrow reminds me of us, never gives up. The Pigeon's would be in trouble with Hektor whose favourite past time when he goes up to Perth is chasing them. Mind he doesn't much care for birds of any sort. loathes all members of the crow family, geese are not favourites either, indeed if he could fly he would be off after them. We used to have a gang of sparrows living in one corner in the Mahonia which drove him crazy. Right now I would give my eye teeth to have them back to keep down the pests.
Baby elephants, why ARE they so cute.

    3. Aye, as a rule dogs and birds don't make best friends.

Most baby animals are cute though... don't you think?

  7. I look in every week hoping to see a cute and appealing picture of midges but no luck so far!

Slightly off topic but did anyone see the adorable Ruth on "Have I got English news for you" Her uncertain giggling reminds me of my prim and proper Aunt Marmaduke's reaction when I tell her an obscene joke when I come back from the pub...

    1. Munguin says that seeing that you live amongst the midges, you have been commissioned to take a close up of one of them. Usual terms and conditions apply.

Not sure I could cope with Ruth Davidson trying to be amusing.

My mum says you have to stop telling your aunt obscene jokes when you you come back from the pub. In fact she thinks you should stop going to the pub altogether!

    3. Sorry, Tris, can you repeat that?

    4. I'm glad that Tris is open to posting some cute pictures of midges. (Which the Scotland tourism commission doesn't say a lot about, it seems to me.) I'd also like to see a few American animals. Where are the cute pictures of rattlesnakes?

    5. Ha ha John.

      No.

    6. It's true, Danny, we don't advertise midges at all. Which is odd, don't you think?

I take your point about the American animals or lack thereof, though I remember a picture of Mr Trump going up at one point. Still I guess you only want cute American animals.

I promise that, just for you, we'll ahve some next week :)

    7. Tris, I appreciate the consideration for Mr. Munguin's American friends. In fairness, that image of Donald Trump may have been intended to be an image of the furry little critter who lives on the top of the Donald's head.

On another matter, I noted the Telegraph article about the ending of British Summer Time (one week in advance of your American cousins.) Of particular interest is the picture of the slight repositioning of the stones at Stonehenge; a laborious job required twice yearly. Also a problem for the Carhenge site on the high plains of Nebraska.

    8. It's true, certainly Danny, that there was some horrible loud fat thing attached to the bottom of the little animal. I just thought it was rubbish that could be discarded. I've since learned of course that it is actually a comedic turn on Vaudeville. Odd what some people will pay to see.

I believe he recently tweeted that his ancestors didn't come all the way to the USA so that their jobs could be taken by immigrants... but that may be a bit of a send up...mind you he did once have a go at Obama for offshoring jobs, although his Donald Trump shirts are made in China!

Good joke about Stonehenge... and the American version of it is...em, very....erm... tasteful!!!

      :)

No one does ancient relics like the English ...well maybe except the Greeks...

    9. Yes, it's always a little hard to make any sense of what Donald says.....especially from his day to day tweets.......which sometimes get posted and deleted pretty fast. He's far ahead in every national poll now, except last week in an Iowa poll where a far right wing doctor named Ben Carson pulled ahead. He's a guy who believes that the devil has deliberately created the millions of years old fossil record to deceive us and make us believe in Darwin's evolution. Yes, the Republican Party is the gift that keeps on giving, and the perfect place for a clown like Trump. :-))

      Delete
    10. LOL: He's a tricky customer is the Devil. You've to watch him all the time otherwise he's creating fossils and stuff.

He's just not to be trusted.

I wonder what that says about Iowa?

Not too far now till the snows of New England :¬)

  9. Tris,

Great photos - pics like those cheer us all up!

Could you run an article on the rise of the cost of Trident to £167 Billion - apparently this will be it's entire lifetime cost and until now this has been hidden from the public.Even some top Tories and heads of the military are seriously questioning this obscene use of public funds.

Here's a quote from a man worth listening to -

Sir Hugh Beach, former Deputy Commander-in-Chief of UK Land Forces,
who has this to say -

    "Trident is ‘no bloody use"

"Beach says that the Trident nuclear submarines, based on the Clyde and armed with warheads, should not be replaced but immediately scrapped."

"His call echoes demands from a series of other military leaders who want government action on nuclear disarmament."

""Britain cannot claim to have derived any direct security benefit from the possession of nuclear weapons," he argued. "British nuclear weapons did not deter Argentina from attempting to annex the Falkland Islands in 1982, nor did they help Britain to recover them, despite the belief that a Polaris submarine was patrolling the South Atlantic.""

    see - tinyurl.com/c7g9s3

Oh my another Brit Nat myth busted, and Alex Salmond again proven correct.
Who in the right minds would chose to spend billions on
something that is ‘no bloody use', whilst forcing draconian cuts on
services like child poverty, health care, education, investment in
new business ? Apparently it would be so called 'socialists' in the
form of Labour and their sycophantic.

This wasteful England dominated Union needs to be ended at
the earliest opportunity and Scotland given fully control of our
own nation to look after the interests of the Scottish people
    first and foremost.

All the best Tris on keeping your great website going!

    Alan

    1. Thanks very much for your kind words of encouragement on the blog, Alan, I had thought about doing that last night... but was too tired to start it.

Yeah, I can do it tonight, I guess... [unless you want to write it as a guest post....:)]

I agree it's a scandal to waste that much money on it when the infrastructure is falling to bits and kids are going to school hungry.
