SNAPS ON SATURDAY

Well, what did you expect?
How many of his houses did we do up?
I seriously couldn't think of a better name for it
Of course they do: And they always have. But it's true. If they see  keeping the UK together as a part of their remit, a policy of honesty would help
Dead Wood, more like
Well, can anyone deny it?
£1,100,000,000,000,000 why that's even more that a banker's pay off.
He lied through his teeth: they are not.

ROAR
Thank heavens for a proper Labour Party

Oh bugger ... that's the ba' in the slates!

And now, for Jim: (cover the caption)
Everyone has the right to happiness, but no one has the right to destroy the happiness of others  The goal of human existence can not be in any case to cause anyone suffering.

  1. Scotland used to have a lot of morris dancing up until the 16th century. Maybe it will come back after independence.
The Banchory Morris Men / Women have been going since 1973.

  2. Well, I must say that is a relief, Monty. I was beginning to think that our brave crusade was over... no Morris dancers, no independence.

Your careful research has saved the day.

You win the prize: A weekend in... no sorry AT Loch Lomond with Niko and Taz!

  3. Can I take my golf clubs ?

  4. No. You might hit him with them.

  5. Hmmm... Oh well, OK then!

    ReplyDelete
  6. My clubs are far too precious to do that tris. Might damage them ;)

  7. OK Monty...just try to talk some sense into him.

Ask him if he thinks that the SNP are building the new council houses too big and therefore it is their fault that there is a bedroom tax in Scotland, as Rhoda Grant suggests...

Or is the attack on benefits from London the fault of the SNP, as suggested by Michael McMahon.

    Labour are losing the plot.

  8. hi tris...I think niko 'isn't for turning' like Maggie once said. He's happy to have no control on who runs Scotland. Maggie or Dave etc.

That Minister for bedroom taxes Steve Webb said people should just work 3hrs extra on mimimum wage to cover the tax ( 500,000 not working seemed to pass him by lol )

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-21366303

Just imagine if you had a magic wand and could move 100yds up the road for some more space. Double your mortgage to £1100 a month and let someone else pick up all the bills ( from £8,400 stamp duty to 50p yellow duster for your cleaner to clean up the old pad )

Become an MP like Steve Webb :)

  9. This was the best quote from The Telegraph expenses story on Mr Webb..

"According to a journalist sitting nearby, Mr Clegg said: “Webb must go. I can’t stand the man. We have to move him. But we need to keep him in the cabinet. As a backbencher, he’d be a pain in the arse.”

  10. That fooled me, I was looking forward to Snaps on Sunday and your turned your posting clock back a day.

I liked the Magnum Force spoof and Making the Poor poorer poster that should be broadcast far and wide.

  11. Has ha... He's a grotty little spiv. A dirty one too if it cost him, no, I mean US, if it cost US all that money to clean up his pig sty before he could sell it.

Greedy little git. Of course now he's going to give all the money back to the taxpayer... like he always intended to do before the details were spread out all over the Telegraph.

Now, if everyone just worked an extra 3 hours on minimum wage that would give them about £19 less stoppages. So yes, it would probably cover the cost of the tax, but, the trouble is trying to get an extra 3 hours work out of your cash strapped employers.

Is the minister so out of touch with real life that he thinks everyone can just pop along to see the boss and be given an extra 3 hours' work. It's not like being in the Commons where you can just fiddle yourself some more expenses without bothering to provide a receipt.

  12. Ah Marcia. I like to keep people on their toes...

    Hmmm....

    :)

Watch out, it could be Snaps on Wednesday, next week... I'm just so devil-may-care!

  13. Just reading through that BBC article, Monty, I've decided that Webbb sounds almost revolting enough to be a Tory. If Cleggy hates him that much maybe he should creep around Cameroon.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Did you guys see the article in the Independent showing a Gove memo which has been leaked, revealing in explicit detail their Tory plans to privatise the city academies?

Disgraceful. Thank God for devolution, we can maintain a comprehensive education!

  15. Lib/Lab/Con.....three cheeks o' the same erse tris.

  16. Disgraceful. Thank God for devolution, we can maintain a comprehensive education!

Dean devolution will end after the vote in 2014 no matter which way you vote.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I heard about it on the radio, Dean. And the fire services (although that's not the house elf, that is doing that). I though...oh yeah, that will work nicely, remember what a good job the private sector did with care for the elderly.

I wonder what Labour would do?

I suspect that they would be happy with that. I remember how many parts of the health service they had started to privatise when they were in Edinburgh (although, to be fair, they didn't do the schools).

Independence is the best way to make sure that Cameron and his nasty party, no evil party, don't get their hands on our services.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Indeed Monty...interesting arse though...with 3 cheeks!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. What do you think they will do CH?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Water will be privatised as a UK resource and piped south, Nuclear power plants will be forced upon us and they will find the 'safest place' to dump nuclear waste this side of the border. Holyrood will be nullified so that never again can we question rule from Westminster. Dinner time.

    ReplyDelete
  21. fed a watered cont/

Barnett formula will be reduced to eventual eradication by continual privatisation of public services south of the border until we are nothing more than another region of greater England to be used as Westminster's plaything.

Can someone translate Niko's latest blog in a few coherent sentences please? On his blog of course as I wouldn't like to sully the discourse over here.

  22. Don't be too hard on Niko he is a troubled soul
I get the feeling someone has stitched him into a harris tweed semmit and drawers for the winter and he's itching?? to get out of them

    ReplyDelete
  23. Is it fraying already fairforfochen, need to speak to Brian Wilson about the quality?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well CH... I can't say that any of that sounds OTT to me...

The water... yep, I can see that.

They will want us to take the nuclear waste and have nuclear power, so yeah, I can see that.

I think they will leave Holyrood, but insist that powers are given to local councils, and that it just becomes a sort of overseeing council.

Obviously as the services are privatised and people have to pay for them in England, the costs will go down. So, as you say will Barnett.

If people don't believe they only have to look back. When Westminster think that we are going to leave they get in a terrible state and offer all sorts of things. Once the danger is past they retrench. Has happened before. Westminster is very corrupt and dishonest.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Och... poor Niko. Am I the only one who understands him...?

    Come to Uncle Tris, Niko.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Brain Wilson... quality.... in the same sentence... Oh you're a card CH...

    ReplyDelete
  27. So devolution as we think it is dead after 2014 whatever the BritNats say about more powers what I could never do is what Dean is advocating is vote vote no and then cut and run elsewhere as my conscience would not allow it. I think Niko has a bit more honesty but find his thought process bizarre which is maybe why I have never ever voted Labour.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Am I right in thinking that, according to the above, the debt is a trillion trillion because that is how it reads to me? I'll certainly have to work an extra three hours to make a dent in that!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes CH, you have a good point there.

Dean... Can you explain how, if we are better together you and so many of your friends are leaving. You said some have gone to London. Is this because in the UK that is where all the job opportunities are? or at least the decent ones?

    ReplyDelete
  30. You're right John. I think I/they may have over egged the pudding.... the trillion added in for effect.

I think that the debt is only £1,100,000,000,000,000, but then, it will be more than that now, with interest....

In any case, as we are all in this together, I think you should do that extra three hours anyway, like that nice minister told you. He's minister you know; he's cleverer than the rest of us. And one day, clever little LibDem that he is, he'll be an aristocrat!

  31. Yeah! we Unionists says everything the snp extremist Nats (thats you lot) say
is uncertain the only thing we allow as a racing certainty is

the fact of massive massive dept for Independent Scotland under snp misrule

There's no combination of words I could put on a back of a postcard
No song that I could sing, but I can try for your heart
Our dreams, and they are made out of real things, like a shoebox of photographs with sepia-toned lovin
Love is the answer for at least for most of the questions of my heart
Like, Why are we here? And where do we go?

And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy and sometimes life can be deceiving
I'll tell you one thing, it's always better when we're together

Mmm, it's always better when we're together
Yeh, we'll look at the stars when we're together
Well it's always better when we're together
Yeh, it's always better when we're together

And all of these moments just might find their way into my dreams tonight
But I know that they'll be gone when the morning light sings
Or brings new things for tomorrow night You see that they'll be gone too,
Too many things I have to do
But if all of these dreams might find their way into my day to day scene
I'd be under the impression, I was somewhere in between
With only two, just me and you, not so many things we got to do
Or places we got to be, we'll sit beneath the mango tree now

Yeh, it's always better when we're together
Mmm, we're somewhere in between together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeh, it's always better when we're together

Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm

    Mmm, mmm

    I believe in memories
They look so, so pretty when I sleep
And when I wake up you look so pretty sleeping next to me
But there is not enough time
And there is no, no song I could sing
And there is no combination of words I could say
But I will still tell you one thing
    We're better together

But I will still tell you one thing
    We're better together

    ReplyDelete
  33. Of course we are....Niko... Off you go and take another pill. I'm sure that all the contradictory things that Better Together have been saying to day; the government and their reports that we are paying for... have disturbed your mind a bit.

Oh yes... Credibility Gap widening by the day... ho ho ho

    ReplyDelete
  34. Landmark ruling today regarding workfare - which did make me think about the overall idea behind it.

We can dismiss the notion that it provides opportunities to the trainee, thats absurd obviously. Then it occured to me - immigration is often used by governments seeking to depress wages. But at the moment we are very much in our bash-an-immigrant mode, which is getting uglier everyday. So can we assume that workfares real objective was to replace the immigrant with the jobless? The problem is, that it seems to incentivise firms to stop hiring altogether and even dismiss staff knowing full well they might even get them back as again as "trainees". If so, this might actually deepen the recession further - I am reminded of the tories abolishing of them minimum wage back in the 90s, instead of launching an "economic miracle" actually helped tip the country back into recession.

Something to think about when you are trying to figure out why Niko thinks we're better together.

As for the latest attempt to undermine Independence - I see that Scotland was "extinguished" back in 1707. Now there are huge problems with that from the get go. But I was also clearly struck by the underlying threat that lay behind the rest of the paper. Basically if we do vote yes, Westminster will do everything in its power to bankrupt us, humiliate us and make sure we fail at all we do. I am waiting as to how they explain to N. Ireland that they are nothing more than an "accretion". I didn't think it possible for any one person or thing to make me feel less British - this actually did it.

If anything made me appreciate how utterly worthless the union is - it was that. It's not so much a credibility gap as a yawning canyon.

    ReplyDelete
  35. So we are all little Englanders according to the Better Together brigade's latest release that Scotland was 'extinguished' in 1707, it's now a no brainer if you wish to become a Scot you have to vote YES next year.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The ruling, James, was a smack in the teeth to Iain Duncan Smith and their ridiculous schemes.

There was actually a case of someone being sacked by one of these cheap stores and, after 6 months being unemployed, being taken back on by the the same store, as slave labour.

It's unbelievably stupid. Doubtless it pleases the blue rinse brigade that the Tories go out of their way to court.

As you say, I'm now a Greater Englishman. My country doesn't exist. Fortunately starting the country from anew will mean we don't have to pay off their debt, and they can stay on the security council and pretend that what they think matter, and that clowns like Cameron are world statesmen.

(Talking of which, we should ask Cameron how he feels now about the Arab spring, and in particular the Tunisian and Egyptian spring which he praised, and was proud to be the first western leader to visit. Hows that going again?)

    Bloody amateur.
